For me, it all started around midnight madness when I saw a couple guys from this fan club. Brian and Bob were at the Wal Mart in Eubank waiting like me to get the action figures for Episode 3. I talked to Brian and asked what he was wanting to get when all of a sudden, he pulled out paper after paper of info on the figures and the boxes they came in. He was real helpful and told me what to get first. He said that he was part of a fan club in this city and I always wanted to be part of a star wars fan club but never knew one existed until I met him. Soon after, Bob showed up (always on time) and gave me a Mos Alba card with the address to this site. Held on to it and soon after, the madness! One of the people from this club had an extra basket and told me to put my figures in the basket because nobody had it and she said that she would watch over the contents I put in the basket. Real helpful I must say.

The next morning, I went to Target on Paseo to get a Lava Vader. Sure enough, more people from this fan club. Jess, Joseph, Peter, and a few others were in the line and I made friends with them too right away. They were real helpful when we went hunting as soon as the store opened. After I did this, I went to Toys R Us and waited in line to get a red guard. I met Redgek there as well. As soon as I met these people and found what I wanted, the next day, I went home and logged on to make a name and registered on this site and soon after, I became a member and made a bunch of cool friends that I still hang out with today.

How did you find your way into Mos Alba?

About four months ago, Wook put a flier on my Jeep in the Cottonwood Mall parking lot. At the time my computer wa a piece of crap so I wasn't able to get to the boards, but being the geek that I am the first thing I did when I bought my new computer is start posting. Now with the help of Dave and Peter we make sure no thread stays on topic for too long.

I cannot say enough how great everyone is in this group. Since day one they have all treated me like a long time friend, not just some new guy. I'm excited how much it has grown. I now keep a stack of fliers in my car just in case I run into a fan. Long live Mos Alba, and long live the Mos Alba Cardboard Costume Brigade!!!

I visit theforce.net and starwars.com all the time. A few days before the midnight showing of ROTS I was on theforce.net and noticed the forums and kept clicking and found my way to Mos Alba. I had no idea there was a FF in Albuquerque.

I do have to agree that everyone is very cool and welcoming.

Yea, the mid night madness and the new movie for me generated interest again...I ran into Cindy in the parking lot of my office and joined up that evening. I was looking for something to replace playing hockey as well and I thought an armor kit and trooping would do the trick.

My mom died and I needed to focus my energy on something positive and fun. I restarted my Star Wars interest. I was on E bay a lot and I started looking up other sites. I found the force.net and I went to my first meeting at page one where I met Wook, SLA, and Redgek it was awesome and the rest is history.

It was all Jess! We finished our armor at the same time and joined the 501st at about the same time, but didn't know about each other. I thought I was the only guy with armor in Alb (except Steve in Taos, but he always seemed to be MIA and never answered me). Then I got an email from Jess about Mos Alba, went to the meeting that Sunday (Feb 2004) and the rest was history! Back then it was maybe 10 people! Thanks, Jess!

I went to Celebration III by myself, and met these great guys from the boise idaho fan force, i bonded with them over the course of C3.

i thought, wow i can't believe there are other people as crazy as me, but alas they are so very far away.
they said "don't dispair, check out the fan force boards to see if there is a fan force in your area." and with great anticipation i did, and to my surprise, there were others in albuquerque like me.

    behold, mos alba!

i started posting, went to a bbq, and fell in love with the group.
everyone has been increbibly friendly and wonderful to me, and i am so very glad that i found you. i don't feel crazy anymore. well maybe i'm still crazy but at least i'm in good company!!!

i went to indy and back just to find a home. finally.

    thank the maker!

    Okay, here's my story ...

It was a dark and stormy night. Shots rang out. Someone screamed...

Alright, midway between Episodes I and II, I checked out the whole "FanForce" thing. Nothing happening in our great state. So I promptly forgot all about it ...

Until one fateful day in March of 02, when Julie saw a flier at Cherry Hills Library. Lo and behold, something had sprung up. Showed up for my first meeting with Varza and Lor sitting at the cafe at B&N. I got to meet Jess, Scott, Aaron, Lindsey, and many others who I cannot remember at this time. I sat there quietly, taking in this group of people and wondering if it'd be something I would continue on with. I was a little unsure, to be honest. Would I fit in? Are we doing stuff worth doing, or do we just sit around and shoot the breeze? (YES AND YES! [face_laugh])

Well, as you can see, I'm still around. Some of these people are the nicest people I've ever met. Heck, if you can ask one of them to help pour concrete on a early Saturday morning, then you've got some real friends here...

I got Bob's Number off of a bathroom stall at a rest stop and figured I would call it. Next thing you know, I'm in Mos Alba.

For me.. It was all Commander_Clem's fault. I have been an ACW/WW2 Reenactor for 10 years. So it was just another impression to pick up. Plus its another excuse to carry an MG-34 :)

I don't quite remember how I found theforce.net, but when I did I started posting just in the southwest forum and ended up connecting with Lady Anakin Skywalker, Chromium and LetoQuorme and we decided to have a meeting. Leto, Lady Anakin and myself met for our group's first meeting in June 2002 I believe and the rest they say is history!

I met Leto and Lady Anakin in line for the sneak for Clones. She jumped out of her skin at the sight of a spider. I missed the first meeting because I had something else going on that day. I met Chromium, Lady Naberrie and Skyra at the next one. I'm pretty sure Denny's hated us.

Ah yes, I remember the wait on line for Ep II. That was good times! As Aaron posted, I met up with LadyAnakinSkywalker on line for AOTC, and Aaron happened to be standing right in front of us. At that time, she and I, as well as Lindsey, Donna, Chris and others were posting about starting up the FanForce in the Southwest Region general discussion forum. The first official meeting took place in Denny's at the corner of Juan Tabo and Menaul in June 02, one month after AOTC with myself, Donna and LadyAnakin in attendance. I think we doubled our members by July, with Chris, Lindsey and Michelle showing up. By August, we were official, and as they say, the rest is history.

And now, for your reading pleasure, here it is, that fateful thread in the SW region gen. dis. forum: The origins of Mos Alba. I can't believe it's been three years, and Mos Alba is still going strong. There are so many people who have joined this group over the years that have become such integral members, I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like without you. Here's to many more years to come! :)

Hear Hear!! *Raises toast* Long live MosAlba!

I think I found the board the day of the first meeting, but couldn't make it. I showed up at the Denny's the next month not knowing what kind of people would be there. I thought maybe I was really the only one into Star Wars this much, and maybe it was a support group or something to cure me of my Star Wars obsession. But then I found a cool bunch of people who were just, if not more, obsessed and crazy as me! My little geek side of the world got a whole lot larger....

Then I realized that Aaron & I watched porn in high school and the world became even smaller...and stranger. ;)

Glad we moved from the Denny's. We got the evil eye stare too often.

Don't let the cat out of the bag about our "viewing"! Let the others run away with their imaginations. On second thought, we'd better not let Dave think too much into it.

I'll never forget the look of sheer horror on Mrs. Roberts face.

"What class are you teaching anyway?" The gymnastics rep just kept talking to her and watching the movie. Classic!
