Any plans for your Saturday?

 

Off for a walk to the village this morning to drop off some library books. Just finished "Shadows of the Empire" which was quite good as far as that sort of thing goes. I'm reading the first of Tery Pratchett's Discworld novels now.

Might grab some breakfast at one of the cafes. Then I've got to get my brother a gift. It was his 24th birthday yesterday, and so I'm off to the folks tonight for a family dinner to celebrate it.

Not sure what to get him. Probably give him a CD and a bottle of rum. He drinks really crap, sweet, locally made black rum - I might try and get him a bottle of something decent like Havana Club.

I'm also wallowing a little today. I found out yesterday one of my all-time favourite muso's has incurable lung cancer.

Oh, that is very sad.

He is an incredibly gifted musician... we've sampled him more than once.

Lung cancer is such a terrible way to go. I only hope he can be relatively pain free and find some joy in the rest of his days. Man, am I glad I quit smoking.

Anyway, it sounds like you have a fun day planned JP. I started to try to read my first EU book recently... I can't remember what it was called, obviously I had a hard time getting into it.

Tom. What have you sampled of his?

 

It's a bit embarrassing but I actually don't know the names of songs or anything. At our studio we have thousands of records, and we usually just sample things sort of at random, then manipulate the sounds on our computer.

I do know that we've mostly sampled stuff off of the "Excitable Boy" LP...

My favourite is probably "Learning to Flinch", a live album. I saw him in New Zealand on that tour, he played solo, acoustic but it was anything but an "unplugged" type show. A couple of the tracks from the gig I was at made the album too

Sure I would. Of course there's no way I could guarantee that I would ever be able to devote as much time to a game of this sort as I was able to for this one... but I would do it, although I highly doubt that the experience could top this one.

Unless of course Meg, Kerryn, and Casper did it with me.

 

Thanks jp! Oh, and in answer to your question, I don't think so. I absolutely loved doing this, but it is very exhausting. Maybe if there's enough time between games, but the game becomes too emotional at times and it's hard not to just "switch off."
