can I download these and use them with the demo or is the demo totally self contained?

The EULA of JO forbids mods working with demo or OEM versions of the game. I doubt the demo would have a feature where mods / levels can be loaded.

Macho, make sure you spell it correctly. It's "helpusobi1" or you can use "devmapall." I always use devmapall. Good luck.

the cheats work fine in the demo

it was fun npc spawning tons of baddies and good guys and watching my framerate dip from 40 to 0 !! Especially in that landing bay, great fighting arena.

    hehehe

don't use give all as some of the weapons do not appear in the game and will crash if you do.

setforceall 9 works (getting the 5 stances)
and almost all the other tweaks/cvars

just when you spawn people, they will spawn with either the Stormie or Jan skins.
So luke and tavion spawns as a lightsaber-wielding stormie and Desann is a huge hulking stormie and Galak is a stormie with a very annoying shield bubble thingy.

I might post some screenies to boast the really low fps i get, even when i switched everything to the lowest settings hehe.

    EDIT:
    btw, it's
    helpUsObi 1

Which cvars/tweaklets did you use? I haven't messed with them much. Anything neat there?

The arena's floor hurt my eyes... wow. I thought the ending was mildly amusing. Right before the cutscene, that is.

    Right... coupla other things:

How do you spawn more baddies? Is this put in via the console thingy?

How do you do the 'walking round the walls' thing? Do I have to whack my force level up? And is it a key to activate it or will I do it automatically?

They don't seem to give you much in the way of information with this demo! :(

    righty...
first of all to spawn NPCs (writing this from memory cos I left my notes back home):

    pull down the console (shift+`)
    type:
    npc spawn luke
for luke. There's no luke skin in the demo so it's a saber-wielding stormie (ally)
    npc spawn Jan
    for a gun-toting Jan (ally)
    npc spawn JediF
    for a female jedi (ally)
    npc spawn Desann
spawn a big-sized stormie (no Desann skin) (enemy)
    npc spawn Tavion
spawn stormie, red-saber wielding stormie (no Tavion skin) (also an enemy)
there's one for Galak_somethingorother (forgot the right name, just ready any JO faqs (gamefaqs.com) has it all) and it's the big baddie with the shield. No skin for him either, so he shows up as another stormie

use the same for npc spawn command for
    stormtrooper, Jedi, JediTrainer, Lando etc.

You can't really fight allies, unles syou hurt them big time, and then they'll be forced to protect themselves and fight you.

You can walk on walls (as long as you're in force level 2 I think - which is what you get in the demo... but I can't remmeber) by running to the wall then strafe against it (by running parallel) and hitting jump. It takes some practise at first)

The readme in the demo explains some moves and other stuff. I suggest you read it :D

To get the 3 other saber moves (you only get medium and fast in teh demo) type
    setforceall 9

typing undying in the console gives you 999 health and gives you nice base for practising against the baddies (better than being invincible cos you know how much they hurt you)

When I turned everything to the lowest setting, the arena floor is a nice orange non-reflective surface, much better than teh black glossy default.

Cheers WSAENOTSOCK, that'll do very nicely! I'm a newbie to JO and my first taste was Friday night when I got the demo down, hence all this talk of spawning goes right over my head!

I did start to look through the readme but it looked like all technical and install issues so I just closed it. I'll give it a read now though! ;)

    Peace out...

    no sweat, mate :D

the demo was my first venture into JO too, and since i cant afford a copy yet, I'm milking the most out of it.

Here are some more fun stuff you can do in the console (which works in the demo, I'm gonna experiment with some more later)

    bind x taunt
replace x with a key you'd like to use. When you press that key in game, Kyle will do a little "taunting" animation and will say something

    g_saberRealisticCombat 1
For chopped heads, arms, legs, and bodies :D

    cg_drawfps 1
will display your framerate in teh upper right hand corner of the screen

    bind x victory
same with the taunt, except it gives a different animation and sound

    screenshot
takes a screenshot. You can bind this to a key the same way as above.

    saberColor red
changes your saber color (don't know if the spelling changes with the British copy :p )
other colors are: orange, yellow, green, blue and purple

you can activate cheats by typing
    helpUsObi 1
    then typing the following:
    give health
    for max health
    give weaponnum x
replace x with the number from 0-9 for the weapon. You can only get the weapons in teh demo tho
    give ammo
    maxes out the ammo
there are other variables with the give command, just havent explored them all yet.

    god
    god mode/invulnerability
    noclip
takes of clip mode a.k.a you can walk through walls and move in all 3 dimensions without hindrance. Quake equivalent of "fly"
    undying
    gives 999 health

The cvars are located in the jk2config.cfg config file. It's recommended you don't alter anything, unless you don't know what you're doing, but if you open it with notepad, you can check what your keys are bound to (and change them) and set the other variables.

Just like the console command, to set a value as "yes" it's 1, and 0 is "no". There are other cvars that have values greater than 2 as well.

they key to get in that main door? go to the first door on the left as you enter, there should be another door that has the elevator to go up. The officer should have the key. Kill him and get it

    Alrighty, next stupid question...

That npc spawn <name> command's GREAT! It livens up the 'arena' no end... But so far all I'm getting is Stormie's 'cos they're the only skins loaded with the demo.

    Q. Do you know the names for imp officers and most importantly the two skins of the baddies that ARE in the demo? Sometimes after beating the first saber guy, a second comes in with a kind of green hood on. If I knew the names for these I could spawn them instead of loads of dark-jedi-stormies.

    Anyone? :D :D :D

    {||||| ?||} -----------------------------

EDIT: Is there a name for the Probot as well?

    WAHEY!
Right, scrub that last one. I now know that the command is npc spawn reborn , mind you, I don't know the officer name yet.

Is there a list of all the spawnables in the demo? And are there different reborns?

    Tch! Questions, questions questions eh?
    Peace out... :D

EDIT: My word it's quiet in here tonight! (10:25pm UK)

I love turning on saber realistic combat and being in the blue stance while invincible.

I spawn a stormie right in front of me and turn left, then turn right and swing. It's about a 1 in 5 chance that you'll cleave his head off perfectly and he'll fall over like Jango Fett in Episode II.
