JCC Kidney Stones

.My dad is at the hospital with extreme pain from kidney stones(I think because this identical to the last attack a month ago).How rare is it to be in so much pain from kidney stones? Why do they occur,especially less than a month apart?

 

It is not rare to be in pain from kidney stones. If he's passed some a month ago, it's not unusual to pass more.

 

Pain from kidney stones aren't rare, but attacks that lead to hospitalization so close to each other may mean he might have to have surgery. Hopefully his doctors will be able to resolve the issues without resorting to surgery.

 

Apparently it's not kidney stones so now they are obtaining his records from the other hospital...I'm so frickin tired.Now I'm really worried.

My husband was fishing on the other coast when his captain had an attack. He called me and asked me to do some home remedy research. • is too large to pass on its own or is caught in a difficult place
• blocks the flow of urine
• causes an ongoing urinary tract infection

• has grown larger, as seen on follow-up x rays

Hippocrates didn't train people to remove kidney stones. In fact, it was such a dangerous treatment that there were nephrological surgeons back then who specialized in that, and whose field was separate from that of physicians. Hence, the Hippcratic Oath contains this odd proscription against surgery to remove kidney stones.

But obviously, yeah, some modern physicians are properly trained to surgically remove kidney stones.

 

Isn't there a way of using ultrasound to break up kidney stones? Or is that only for certain cases?
