I can't wait! This year marks the 30th anniversary of the broadcast of The Star Wars Holiday Special, too.

Dang! I just checked my calendar and I have to go to the benefit for the one organization I dare not absent myself from- my wife's great life long passion.
So, I can't make it.

It?s that time of year again ? time for the Chicago Force annual Life Day Celebration!

This year?s Celebration will be Saturday, December 13, 2008 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at my house.

We will have all the traditional Life Day activities:

The viewing of the Holiday Special (as long as someone brings it) ? a must if you have never had the pleasure.

The Grab Bag gift exchange ? Bring a gift for the grab bag and go home with a gift from the grab bag. Gifts are limited to $20.00 - $25.00 (no gift cards, please). Be creative ? there are a ton of Star Wars related items out there!

While you are not required to bring a food and/or beverage item, the party is always more fun with more food. Think of something good ? or I will give you an assignment.

Whats up Everybody, it's been awhile, I'll defintely be there, not for tha food, not for tha drinks, but for tha Star Wars Holiday Special! I can't miss the 30th Anniversary!!

 

I will be tied up with the Bowl-A-Thon for the little boy dying of Leukemia....

 

I will be there. I hope to be there for book,beer, clubs and the party itself. Will most likely be driving and could most likely give rides, I know there is a big shuffle of who goes with who. Thing is I am gonna be a jerk and say if you need to leave early for something or something else sorry, I don't think I am your ride.

 

For everyone that is attending just a reminder that this event is coming up soon!

Also, if you've responded but haven't stated what your bringing whether it be food or drink please PM me asap so I can make sure we have everything we need. Thanks!

It got me to thinking about one of the first times I met you concerning this
kind of charity.

My memory is of us talking about your efforts while standing around
in front of the Hollywood Blvd. I think JediGeek was with you.

Something about getting a sneak preview of something to someone on a laptop.

of course, in my old age my memory may not be what it used to be

a most noble cause on a Life Day Celebration event.

What sort of items are you in need of Jawa? Veggie tray, desserts, sodas, napkins???? I'm looking for some suggestions.

Ooh, will we get to see him? or will he hide from us in some pocket universe that cats have the ability to create?

 

Dave had the suggestion over on the other boards of showing the Rifftrax version of the Holiday Special. I've never heard their version and think it would be fun. Does anyone have that to sync with the video? The Rifftrax version includes the commercials. My bootleg VHS has the commercials edited out, but it does have lots of Kenner commercials and trailers at the end to fill the tape. It also has less dropouts than the tape from the last few parties.

I'm still trying to figure out what to bring. I've got to work that morning then catch the train into the city, so it has to be something that doesn't have to be refrigerated and can fit in my backpack.

In addition to whatever I bring, I do plan to bring egg nog.
