*sees Crystal running towards Torrance's room and follows*

*stands silently in the doorway, surveying*


I knew this would happen. It was just a matter of time.

 

//looks up to Melody

//strolls to her and hugs her

I knew you knew it. You knew it all along. What's that with women, anyway? I've never understood it.

I've never understood Torrance. First she falls in love with epic, now it's...him. The petty criminal. What is it that makes me different? Whatever other people have that makes them function normally -- I lack it. Something must be wrong.

//holds her tightly

I saw epic with Torrance that night. In the tub.

 

I had a feeling you did... you just weren't acting like your normal self, Noel. You made rookie mistakes, ignoring vital clues, and desperately clinging to others. It was the behavior of a desperate man... and that's how I drew you in my journal. Tortured and desperate.

*sighs*

 

I hobble down the hallway. I see Melody and Crystal standing outside a doorway. I have no idea who's room it is.

I hear someone yelling. I think it's Eddie.

I walk towards them, and push my way into the room.

I see Noel. He's sitting on the bed.

He has a gun in his hand.

A gun....

THAT'S IT! I remember now! It was Noel He had a blowdryer! He killed epic!!!

 

Are you mad?

 

//Comes in.

What the hell is going on?

 

We've found our killer.

Now, somebody call the police. Looks like we finally get to go home.

 

I can't believe it, Noel. Why would you do such a thing?

 

Who was it?!

Do you want me to call the police?

//Walks over to the phone, picks it up, and dials.

Yes, hello. *pause* Well, we have a killer here. *pause* Yes, a murderer. *pause* We're all safe at the moment, we're fine, yes. *pause* It's a rather long story...

 

//sighs

Couldn't you see, Torrance? What more do you want?

 

I want you to explain to me what you were thinking, Noel.

//takes his hands

I mean, we spent some quality time together and I thought I knew you. Well, I know every inch of you now though the reason you did this still escapes me.

 

Reason is for the reasonable.

Remember how you laughed in my face the night of the end dance? Ten years ago, summer evening, white dress, a little yellow flower, it had rained that day, you entered the room 20:37, with epic by your side, danced, danced, danced, and pretended no one else existed.

You knew I loved you. You could have at least said "hi". Or winked. Or nodded. But epic was everything.

And now we're here, and what do I see? Really, the first thing I see? You with epic. Having a laugh.

OK. No problem.

You had a drink together. Laughed again.

Then went upstairs. With him. I had arrived, but well, who am I anyway? Some old ghost.

I heard you laughing in the hot tub. I heard you, and him, having fun.

Suddenly it hit me. My muse spoke to me. I had never solved a case.

 

Son of a bitch.

 

It shouldn't have been like this. You were so blinded with jealousy you couldn't see straight. So you killed him. You killed him and just took him away from me. From everybody.

I thought you were better than that, Noel.

Obviously I was wrong.

//slaps his face

 

//...Finishes talking and hangs up the phone.

There, Noel, the police are on the way. I guess you'll have a few years in jail to consider whether that was worth it... Whether it was worth it to destroy another life for a stupid thing like jealousy.

 

I'm sorry.

 

You bastard! You tried to frame me with the hair dryer!

I hope you rot in jail for the rest of your life!

Walks up to Noel and kicks him in a very painful spot

 

//high voice

I'm sorry.

 

You bastard. Because of you, I took off in that Viper. Because of you, I smashed it up. Because of you, I'm pretty damn sure I've got a concussion.

I limp over to Noel. He's still doubled over, in pain.

I crack him right on the back of the head with my cane, breaking it in half.

WHACK!!!!

Bingo, bango, bongo.

Not bad for a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest, eh?

 

You're a stupid person if you think a simple, "I'm sorry," will take back all the harm you caused.

//lies on the floor

Steve... You idiot. You can't knock me out. You don't have the strength. You're weak and have always rightfully been number two to epic.

//dizzy

 

*winces and goes over to where Noel is lying, and kneels down*

Oh Noel... why did you do this to yourself, to all of us? This isn't a surprise to me, though. That night that I went for a swim, right after I revealed those condemning gloves, I was actually testing you. I knew that even if you were the killer, you would never be able to kill me, even when I was in such a vulnerable position. If no one else came after me, I would know that you hadn't shared that revelation with anyone else, to protect yourself.

*rubs hand through his hair*

 

//smiles

//smiles broadens, shows his teeth

Hehehe... Do you have a boyfriend?

 

*eyes widen in horror and steps back*

 

You're not going to be able to have a girlfriend in the place where you are going Noel. I hope you get the electric chair.

With those final words Crystal stomps out of the room and goes off to pack her bags

I'm getting out of this hell hole. This week has been a nightmare!
