OK folks - I can't believe no one has started this thread yet! I need help/ideas on how best to make the Luchador costume worn in the movie.

I found details on the actual props used in the film, so if you know how to construct any of these, please chime in!!

    ------------

    Costume pieces:

The red satin Hero cape ties at the neck. It features a gold trim around the neckline and gold tassels across the bust.

The light blue spandex stirrup tights with an elastic waistband with drawstring and white elastic stirrups

The red spandex shorts are brief style and have an elastic waistand with drawstring and elastic around the legs.

The light blue "Luchador" mask with red leather accents has a black lace up back. The eye, nose and mouth cut-outs have red leather and white stitching around each.

The red shiny leather wrestling boots have a white lace up front. They are mid-calf high and feature a rounded toe with stitching.

It looks like you've already done ample research on the costume itself. Hit *-Mart and look for patterns for spandex body suits and capes. That'll give you the majority of the costume right there.

I can't remember seeing patterns for lucha masks, though. eBay has tons of masks, though -- you can probably find something similar that you can tear apart and use for a pattern. Or...even find one in the right colors. Just search for "wrestling mask."

    Clone - just playing!!

Odd though that stuff is so hard to find for that costume. I did a general eBay search in all categories for Nacho Libre and I did see a few things that may be valuable references. Perhaps you could visit a dancewear store for the stretchy pants; they carry stuff for men too I think. They may have some ideas on how to make some of the other components as well.

    Cheers!

I googled "wrestling boots" and came up with a few sites. It looks like you're going to be paying in the $200 range for a pair of basic boots though.
