OK. Go to a search engine. Type in "Relgious discussion boards". Hit go.

I did at Yahoo and came up with this:

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Computers and Internet > Chats and Forums > Message Boards

Iglesia Ni Cristo Doctrine - offers discussion and chat on the Church of Christ.
Eagle Enterprise - forum for prayer, Godly council, and Christian discussions.
Christian Libertarians Discussion Group - offers a message board for discussion of Libertarian passages in the Bible.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Judaism > Chats and Forums

Ask Yenta - discussion boards, pen pals, and chats with a Jewish yenta allowing interesting and informational interaction.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Taoism > Organizations

Taoist Restoration Society (TRS) - dedicated to restoring and preserving China's Taoist heritage. Includes discussion board, images, history, and more.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity

Christian Information Education Center - includes discussion boards, chat, online bible, and more.
WWJD Central - offers resources including sermon and discussion board.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Cultures and Groups > Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals

All Faith Ministries - offering links to several online ministries, chat rooms, and discussion boards.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Computers and Internet > Organizations

I Believe Ministries - offers daily Christian devotionals sent out via E-mail, weekly newsletter, live chat, discussion boards, and more.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Personal Experience

Krehbile, Greg - former atheist, now catholic father of five. With writing on modern catholicism, discussion boards, and links.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Santería

Organization for Lukumí Unity - includes a discussion board and links.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Buddhism > Arts

Buddhist Reading Circle - chapter a week from the reading list is up for discussion on a bulletin board.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Computers and Internet > Chats and Forums

Agape' Forum - Christian discussion board.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > Christianity > Denominations and Sects > Jehovah's Witnesses > Opposing Views

Support Group for Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses - for former JWs, doubting and curious ones, as well as family members. Discussion board, chat, stories, and personal, direct email contact.

Society and Culture > Religion and Spirituality > Faiths and Practices > New Age > Web Directories

New Age Now - web ring and discussion board.

Entertainment > Music > Artists > By Genre > Religious and Devotional > Christian > Rock and Pop > Metal

Barnabas - offers complete lyrics, history, pictures, discussion board, and more.

Just look. One click away from tons of people happy to discuss religion because that's what their boards are set up to do. Just imagine what different search words and different engines would find.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this has been asked, but...

Padme Bra, is it possible that at sometime in the future just one religion thread could be opened, just like last time when tonyf started the "Moderated Religion Thread"? All religious discussion could then be regulated to that thread only. Maybe after the JC "takes a break" for awhile, something like that could be instituted.

I'm not really upset about the new policy. It's not the end of the world.

I just thought I'd throw my .02 credits in.

I am a devoted Christian and I completely support the ban on religious threads. In fact, I was one of its main proponents. The fact of the matter is, even though I love talking about my beliefs, I hate constantly seeing them taken to the zealous extreme or even mocked.

Christians who try and use the JC as an evangelization tool to virtually shove religion down oters' throats and atheists/others who like to make fun of those who are religious are not contributing positively to the community. We're not oppressing your religious freedom, you're quite welcome to go discuss your beliefs on other boards, via e-mail or maybe Private Messaging, but we have deemed religious discussion more hindering then helpful, because we have seen a complete lack of respect for other people's beliefs. Until we see some drastic changes in the maturity of this board's members (this coming from a 16-year-old! [face_laugh] ) I will firmly support this new policy.

    Thank you for your time!

No blasters! -great post! you did a lot of research - anyone interested in discussing religion should take note. there are lots of places on the web to visit.

It's a nice idea No Blasters!, but its frankly more interesting to discuss religion here with members who you already know. If I went to Yahoo I'd just be discussing with a blank icon who I have no understanding of (besides imagine how flame happy things would get there) while here at the JC I can look at a member and have a faint understanding of where that user is coming from.

Good post Nathin. While I'm still opposed to the new rule, I think I understand more where the admins are coming from (even though I'd still really like to see the quote the Bible verse by verse thread opened again :( ).

Regarding the one sanctioned religious thread, that is pending. Not to pass the buck, but that's really up to the higher ups and the dedicated Community admins. I'll try to get an answer for you on that as soon as I can. Thanks.

Yeah, listen to a guy that tries to fit in at another board by picking on the JC, but still gets picked on by the posters over there.

Try not to fight it. ...sigh

Training for Utopia - Love the new sig - have no idea what the issue is, cannot be bothered to read up on it.

Preacherboy - are you a mod or a bouncer.? Post like that again and I'll break ya legs :p (you can see what I'm getting at here yes?

keiran_helcyan - the verse by verse thread!!! - In my opinion that never had any place. How was it described ' a reference thread'!!!>!?!?!?! - yeah - because the Bible is NO WHERE else on the net??????

{and the leaders of the thread completely missed the irony of my suggested 'Bible - verse by verse Backwards' thread idea :p )

Padme Bra - I take it that this ban does not include philosophical discussions?

Nova, my apologies if I seemed to come over a bit shirty, must be something to do with reading from the screen rather than speaking.

I agree with the statements about going else where to discuss these types of subjects. It's just not the same. People know each other here and like discussing things that are important to them. Why should they go else where (yeah yeah, I know. Because the admins say so, this isn't a democracy blah blah blah.....)

As I've stated before I am not at all religious so please don't think my opinion is based on the fact that I want to preach one form of religion against another. I hate that and the intollerance that it breads. My original point is that the people who cause the trouble should be banned NOT the subject.

I respect the admin team and the work they do. That doesn't mean I have to agree with everything they do or say. If we wait for the boards to get more mature, episode 3 will be out on DVD! There will always be immature posters around (unfortunately).

Anyway, I said more than my fair share and I hope I have got my opinion across.

    :)

As one who's debated in many a religious thread I support this ban. Religious discussions are based more on opinion than fact, and no matter who you are, people's beliefs don't change (who would expect a message board would change their life anyway)

It is a shame that people can't remember the number 1 rule "Don't take it personally" and keep a cool head, no matter what you debate. If we were all able to do this the ban wouldn't be neccessary, but it is. Sorry, we were given the chance for mature discussion. We've still got politics.

BTW how fat is Al Gore nowadays?

    Re-elect Gore in 2004! :D
(sorry, I couldn't resist that one)

and yes,I think political threads should probably be banned for the same reasons as religion.

jedi-girl, thanks, but it was no trouble at all. It's easy to find things on the web. That's the point.

As far as others wanting to discuss things here with people you already know, two points.

    1. When you wanted to discuss SW and first came here, did you know anybody? I didn't. I did know people elsewhere, however, but rather than discuss SW with them there, I came here to find like minded fans to discuss SW.

    2. *If* the argument is that you want to discuss religion with those you already know, *then* the obvious solution is to find another location that you can migrate to for your continued discussions.

    edited for coding

Look, it's not that difficult. Lots of other people met each other at the JC, then migrated to other locations for various reasons. They still come back, but have more places to go to when they're online.

Blasters, I know what you mean but (there's always a but...) my only argument with that is that the JCC is about more than Star Wars. You discuss Star Wars in the other relevant forums on the boards.

I can live without religious threads BTW :)
