    Ive aldreay started thinking of different fight scenes to do, and I'm not even in the class yet.Maybe I'll go talk to my old master instructor to see if i could get him to do a sword kata.That would be interesting.

    Got my new drill press set up last night. Didn't get the chance to do anything but did buy most of the parts I would need to get the jib done. Have my garage door pulleys even! Hope to have this all done by the 8th. I'd like to use it to film at a party our congregation is having...

    Ok, I've officially decided that I can't stand the name of the film...

    I hate it.

    It's junk.

    But I can't seem to come up with a decent name. Those of you that have read the script, if you have any ideas, please voice them here. I'll even give a credit to the one who comes up with the new name.

    If you haven't read the script, PM me and I'll send it to you. MS Word format.

    The title just seems so "FanFilm"-ish. I would like something more enigmatic. That doesn't give that much of the story away.

    Crane Pics!

    Here are the crane pics! It isn't 100% complete yet. Still need a small monitor so that I can see what I am filming. I will probably rebuild the base that mounts to the tripod. It has a lot of movement (cross axis roll) in it and I think I can build it to be more stable and simplify the design.

    I have taken some shots with it and once I get them captured and edited I will post them on the FDP site.

    Been doing a lot of 3D experimenting lately. I have been working on the rooms for Act III but have stopped for a while because I am not sure if I can really pull that off. I think I have enough of it fleshed out that I can start storyboarding it.

    I have decided that I am going to finish the opening scene completely. From Opening Crawl thru to the big bang I'm going to finish that shot. I think that accomplishing that will inspire me to continue...

    I've got some pics ready but didn't bring em to work so I'll try to post them later.

    Updates. Got some more done on the top and bottom. Still need some more on the bay faces and inside the bays.

    Here's a brief animatic:
    Right Click Save As
    About 2.3 MB. Sorry I didn't resize this. It's quite wide... QT Sorensen 3 codec.

    LOL!

    Yeah, there will be small ships coming and going and there will be some visibility of stuff/people etc in the bays. But it will be a REALLY SHORT shot when you see that. The shuttle will approach the station. You'll see maybe three or four seconds of that. Then you'll get an interior view as the shuttle lands.

    Amazing how much work is going into something that'll only get a few seconds of screen time.

    I've easily got over 40 hours work in this and have many more to go.

    Here's an update. Been texturing. There are some obvious flaws in some of the textures, and I'll need to vary some of them or rotate some objects to hide some of the obvious repetition...

    [image=http://www.stoneartgallery.com/fdp/stills/production/cgi/cy707-front.jpg]

    ^On the boxes above the bay doors the texture is slanted. Going to have to look into why...

    [image=http://www.stoneartgallery.com/fdp/stills/production/cgi/cy707-back.jpg]

    ^The floors won't stay shiny black. They just look pretty for now. They'll be gray plated.

    [image=http://www.stoneartgallery.com/fdp/stills/production/cgi/cy707-distant.png]

    Another angle it will be seen from in an opening scene.

    I'll be adding lots of little lights/windows as well. Most of the textures are variations with the same texture map (map from Simon Coles' Republic Assault Ship). Then I used some basic copper and some procedurals.
