i thought of that, the pavement out side of travelling man isn't big enough for people in costume to hang around, anyway last time i was in travelling man i spoke to the manager about this, he said that he could move the display in the window and we can be seen from the outside and the table that is in the front of the shop will also be moved for greater movement, it'll be cool to see peoples reaction when they are walking past the shop and see us in costume

the 99th are mainly in the midlands and down south and would be hard for them to come up to newcastle

more on the pavement issue, you need a collection liecense to collect in the street as we will be in doors its on private property and no liecense needed

nige - auto is generic - not named to anyone.

would have cost at least £20 at GMEX - lets see what we can get - should we sell raffle tickets or something do you think?

thats great jase together with my daniel logan we should raffle the pair off (get money out of people who don't want the photo)
i have posted in other fan force regions to see if anyone else has anymore signed 8x10's to donate but no joy yet
i think £1 a ticket should be a good amount to ask per ticket, draw the raffle at the end of the day and jamie can hold on to them until claimed

    any thoughts people?

You mneitoned FP is around the corner yeah? I'm sure on that basis there are a bunch of people who go to FP and not T-MAN - is it worth asking FP if they want to help out with the raffle - it IS for charity - and you'll open yourselves up to more people i'd have thought.

Also - collecting on the street without a license might be illegal, but advertising the fact you're at T-Man may not be? I.e. leaflet-ing of some sort? Just thinking some cheap ass leaflets could be put up around town, or even handed out by some willing volunteers - i could mayhaps help with that for the short time i'll be there - but some shops may put things up for you, particularly places like HMV, Virgin etc.

already thought of that, iam in newcastle today dropping off some a4 posters and 200 flyers. posters and flyers are going in newcastle wrestling store, fantastic toys (they sell star wars toy), a trading card store (can't rember the name but its run by a guy called bob), travelling man and the uni
if you drop by i have a job for you on the day, there is a square (can't remember the name of it) where all of the goth and emo kids hang out (you know how popular the emperor is with this crowd[face_skull] ) i'll get jamie to keep some flyers back for the saturday for you to do this

i suppose i could ask at the relavent shops to help, whats the worst they could do? say 'no'

    another update

posters and flyers are handed out to the following places
    travelling man
    newcastle wrestling store
    fantastic toys
    granger games
universal imports (he used to be in the green market but has moved to newbridge centre)
and a new place in the granger market that sells movie photos and props etc
the trading card shop won't put a poster up, why because the owner thought that he would be advertising travelling man and not the event (fool)

and more news, we should have more items for the raffle, newcastle wrestling store donated 5 stat wars posters couple of them are special edition cinema posters (printed in reverse on the back), TM are going to donate some graphic novels and universal imports are going to put some stuff together also the others said they would try

suzi would it be possible to burn copies of the soundtracks? jamie doesn't mind playing burnt cd's saves your original ones from possible damage

Wait...i'm gonna come by and say hi and you wanna stick me in a square five blocks away? well pfft...;)

J/K - i'm happy to help for an hour - though I wouldn't object to some company on my sojourn into the unknown and weird world of Newcastle...but hey, if i can walk round the town with a sword and shield, i can hand out some leaflets, right :)

No need to Dave at his event - Im pleased to say this is one event where many groups are all working under one banner - for a damn good cause!

Im liking the going round town handing out leaflets idea - although we wont have an official licence for collecting, there could be no harm in walking the steets to do some promo and pull people in to TM....and just happen to have a collecting tin handy lol. We would need to have organised spotters though to make sure nothing happens to these people and ecide on who and when this happens so TM is covered by enough people. Prob a good idea to think on this Nige from the attendance register.

    Shall I bring R2 again?

Nige - this is gonna be a cracking event - well done mate! =D=

collecting tins-one on the TM counter near the till should be ok

flyers-we have more flyer going out in the area i have sent the jpeg of the flyer to at least 3 members, the only flyer distribution on the day is the one to where the goths hang out and van halcyon has offered to do that (sort off ;))

spotters-not too sure what you mean jase we have dan and sie as support staff who should be more than enough considering that there is only 2 of us in masks (me and the tie fighter pilot) if everyone else keeps a casual eye out we should be fine, TM are having 4 members of staff that day so if they ain't too busy they will help keep a look out

R2-D2-bring him along although won't you be carrying enough (back drop etc), which are you coming as jedi or fleet trooper? i know which one i would like, if the emperor has an escort (tie pilot), i'm sure the princess would like one too (get my drift)

thanks for the praise jase :), i must be doing something right

I'll do Fleet Trooper then Nige.

'Spotters' are just the ones making sure the kids dont break their lightsabers and the chavs dont nick their gear!

Sie and Dan will be a Force to be reckoned with no doubt.

    I picked my nose today. o_O [face_laugh]
