I know it's been a while since I updated this thread but since we're a week away from the movie marathon and the teaser, I thought I'd chime in with my progress.

Much of the opening sequence is completed, including most of the "CG" elements. Currently I am rendering one totally "CG" scene from the opening.

The scene with four stormtroopers (all jason) walking is completed.

Various lightsaber scenes are done as well as a couple scenes with blasters.

That's all for now, more updates to come later!

according to the most recent SW insider,
comic-con will play host to the 2nd annual star wars fan films award ceremony.
the submission deadline is June 3rd.

i'm not sure if we are eligible, as i don't think we would have been eligible for the last year's due to content.

Not eligible at all, they need to be "spoofs."

what if we did an alternate soundtrack that spoofed our own movie... we release the original, and then submit the spoof version?

    hehe

I think we are way too far beyond the requirements for the contest to even consider it a possibility. In addition, even if it could be modified somehow, it would probably take too long to get it in by the deadline...if it hasn't already passed.

Not that it matters much what I think, but why can't this just be a fun-thing for us? Personally, I think that if a project were to be submitted for a Con, it should undergo alot more pre-production and planning than this one that many of us were unaware of until that weekend.

Just think. As cool as this one is, how much more could be accomplished if the production had more time and resources to create an even more elaborate story and product. As it is, the CG "team" is working his can off to get this lil bit done. I'm thrilled with the idea of a simple made-for-us-and-whomever-else film. Great job as-is.

armand, you have no idea how much better this one looks than some of the films on the force.com. Anyway, sure it wouodl be cool to plan it out and maybe next time it would be better, butr the whole point of this one was , check it out, look what we did with no planning, and see how kick ass this fan force is!

Agreed, Jason. Yes, it's incredible what a fantastic job was done on this little story about a famous Mandalorian sniper. ;) :)

I thought this was a movie about a Jedi who says nothing at all and kicks the Sith's butt in the final battle? ;)

Well, yes, to the untrained eye it would appear so. In actuality, it's a study on the tragic life of a Mandalorian super-warrior who deals with life's mysteries and the trials and tribulations of friendship vs. doing his job. A touching and moving tale that is destined to become a classic.

    Here are a some reviews by well-known critics;

    Ebert- "Two thumbs up!"
    Roper- "Two thumbs up!"
Rex Reed- "I laughed, I cried. I'm Rex Reed."
Gene Shallit- "I thought Antonio Banderas was superb!"

i thought this was an existentialist work highlighting the futility of life, unless you're a jawa. everyone else in the movie dies and is buried in the sand.

Don't worry, I plan to make another fanfilm with all of your help and much better planning. I already have a great idea, but I am going to say this: Let's hold off on discussing future projects until the current one is done.
