JCC Shots fired at LAX

Shots fired at LAX terminal 3-1. Passengers being evacuated. Local media says shooter shot by law enforcement.

 

So, LAX becomes more like the rest of LA?

Yeah, my first thought was "how in the blue hell did a high powered rifle get through security?!"

 

Let's hope he didn't sneak it through in his butt or we'll all be getting random colonoscopies at the airport from no one.

It is somewhat weird that this makes breaking news but all the people shanked and shot on halloween don't make the news at all. I guess death is acceptable in this country if it's for celebration purposes.

 

So far no reports of fatalities. Reports of the gunman shot and in police custody.

 

Any act of violence, no matter how minor, will get major news coverage and lead to major panic as long as its connected to airplanes. As a special bonus, it also has a shot at leading to policy changes.

 

Especially if it's at a major airport hub like LAX

Well the news is getting real lax in putting out non-credible information from random sources.

Major news. It was actually mentioned on norwegian television after airing the breaking news of 90 year old Arne who refuses to wear a life jacket on his boat.

Yeah, it's all over the news in the UK as well. If they are holding flights due to take off to go to LAX that would have an effect in a lot of countries.

 

Now I'm concerned about Arne's safety.

 

CNN's still saying the shooter is in custody but also that one TSA agent has been killed and another among the wounded as confirmed by LAPD.

 

Yeah, Fox is saying about the same at the moment. Fox are also saying the shooter was a ticketed passenger and not someone associated with the TSA.

I'm going to take several laxatives to calm myself down now.

 

If only airports had armed guards, this would not have happened.

 

If we're taking it really seriously, we should really arm all airline passengers.

But honestly, I know "shots fired at LAX" doesn't seem like a big deal (even though one person was killed). But checking in with the local news throughout the day it's been clear that the impact is huge. People have been held out on the sidewalks all day at the airport, the roads around there are all closed down, thousands of people are just wandering around the streets... pretty crazy. And the guy had at least 100 more rounds so it's a miracle the death toll wasn't higher.

Luckily this guy was white. I mean, that's a weird thing to say is "lucky" in a way, but you know what I mean.
