    Well, at least we can expect this thread to be sticky now.

    I doubt it. This is a good thread. But it doesn't have a lot of what it needs. I think a new sticky thread will be started that contains a lot of information that this one has and LOT more. Boots, belts, links, food capsules, lightsabers, etc...

    Well - I have been researching like mad and I think I found a close to movie accurate Screw Back Rivet for the Jedi Belts. Take a look (click on pic to get a larger view):

    Nickel Plated Brass

    Antique Brass

    A few shots on a mock up belt I am working on

    [image=http://www.saberbelt.com/images/newrivets005.jpg]

    Pretty darn close I think - and they look real good on a belt in my opinion.

    Dave,
    Those are about as accurate as you can get. Most leather shops should have those in stock. I was afraid that they wouldn't hold the strap in place as well and used studs that were flat rounds on each end rather than ball ends. But those look really good.

    yeah, those are accurate. problem with them tho is that you'll have to fasten the thin belt down with cement or soemthing cause if you try to hook a lightsabre on that it'll fold or slip off :\

    Actually, with a covertec clip it goes over the base of the belt, no the thin part. It actually will help to hold the thin part on.

    Why do all the women get the cheap leather riding boots? There is virtually nothing for Men in tall leather riding boots, unless you want black.

    if you're going movie-prop style it works great. you've also got the buckle in the back so you don't have to worry about needing to remove the thin belt. mine merely overlaps in back and clasps in front so i had to use flat rivets and make loops. great thing about the generic jedi costume - customization :)

    I have recently heard about some special paint that bonds with the leather and is for shoes. It looks pretty good in pictures, but I haven't seen any after they've been walked in. They use it to customize a certain type of Nikes.

    I have also recently seen quite a few brown or black flat-soled knee-high women's boots out there, usually at a good discount. They seem to be a fad right now. I would grab a pair if I didn't have some already.

    We haven't found anything reasonable for men, either.

    I was reading through this and I think this site might answer some of your questions. Also I have found the people in the Rebel Legion forums (before I became a member) helpful. Maybe some of the ideas from these sites could be summarized here. Just a thought.

    Firstly, I actually think the Jedi Belt is around 3" instead of 2.5"
    Secondly, I found an excellent source for belt buckles.

    umei.com

    here are some examples (this is just the tip of the iceberg):

    Well you are wrong ;)

    Jedi belts are 2.25" some are 2" mostly on some women.

    Nice buckles though!

    2.25" or even 2.5" - but not 3" for the PT Belts

    2" for the OT Belts

    Now about that site you posted - great looking buckles but they do not return emails or answer their phones. I have been trying for over 6 months.

    Believe me - I spent close to a year looking for the buckles for Anakin's and Jedi Belts - I found a reliable source and I am keeping them in stock.

    They are at least 2.5 inches on the main characters like Obi-Wan and Anakin. I took pictures from the visual dictionary and scaled them up to actual height then measured with guides the height of the belt. Obi comes out to 2.5.

    EDIT: Bummer, lgtsbr! I want #5109 from this picture really bad. It's the closest thing I can find to Kit Fisto's belt buckle.

    Actually the height is a bad way to do it - if you want a sure fire way to figure sizes, and we can thank Justin for this - use the Food Pellet as a guide. From the end of the Hemisphere to the top of the clip is about 2 3/8" (unless I measured wrong, but I do have it in front of me) - that should help with belt sizeing.

    I took a look at Kit Fisto's belt, and it looks like he has about the same buckle style as Anakin and many of the Background Jedi - something like this (click on the pic for a larger view):

    [image=http://www.saberbelt.com/images/Primrodo001_000.jpg]

    [image=http://www.saberbelt.com/images/Primrodo002_000.jpg]

    [image=http://www.saberbelt.com/images/Primrodo003_000.jpg]

    And here is a belt - 2.5" diameter, 3/4" accent belt, custom pouches, covertec clip, food pellets, and my work in progress Anakin Graflex (never mind the fat gut in the pic ;)):

    [image=http://www.saberbelt.com/images/Pouches001_000.jpg]

    I have them and use them - they rock.

    To post a follow up on the rivets I found - here is a side profile shot of the new rivets versus the Sam Browne's - Left Rivet is a Brass Sam Browne, Middle is the Nickel Screw Back Rivet, and Right is the Antique Brass Screw Back:

    I'm pretty sure Kit Fisto's belt buckle is just a rectangular buckle, about an inch to inch and half high. I took a ton of reference pics from the DVD and none of them show anything like Anakin's buckle.

    Edit: You can see a clear shot of Kit Fisto's belt here:

    it very well could be bigger - but seriously use the food pellets as a size reference to determine the belt size.

    That's a better reference, so I now believe the belt to be 2.5 inches.

    So anyways, I looked up Universal Mercantile Exchange, Inc. in the yellow pages. According to www.usabuckles.com and www.umei.com that is their business name. Here is what yellow pages came up with for me:

    UNIVERSAL MERCANTILE EXCHANGE INCORPORATED
    13200 BROOKS DR, BALDWIN PARK, CA 91706
    Phone: (626) 851-8551

    Might be worth a phone call. They appear to have moved locations.

    I still stand by 2.25", The food pellet length show this as well. 2.5 is good if you like the thicker belts, but Obi-Wan, Anakin and Mace have 2.25" using various sources and photos I can personally guantee this.

    The accent belts (except Obi-Wan style) are 3/4" and is also 1/3 of the belt :)

    I've also noted that most of teh girls like Bultar Swann have a 2" or so belt. None of the characters in the films have had a 2.5/3" belt that I have been able to see.

    :)

    kit fisto's accent belt is undoubtedly bigger than the other accent belts. His is at least an inch, if not 1 1/4"

    True, and if you look at the pic you supplied, there isn't much room above or below :)

    Yeah, I noticed. There's barely enough room for the rivets. I'll probably go with 2.5 inch with 1.25 inch accent...well it all depends on the size of the buckle I can find.
