No, that blurb isn't exactly correct, Meg. In fact, it's not true at all.

Though it's somewhat uncomfortable to see yours are quite fitting.

 

I think the questions were deliberately slanted for typical a female response. I wonder if there is a Disney Prince quiz?

My favorite Prince was always the Beast:

Hehe. I always feel like they all look the same, those modern Disney princes and heroes. But maybe I'm wrong.

 

Actually, I like him the most because he doesn't look like all the other Disney Princes (with the same short dark hair, nondescript features, wimpy attitude, etc.). They were all like a parade clones before the Beast.

 

"The Beast" -- that's his nickname among girls or something?

 

Well, I don't think Disney actually gave him a name (correct me if I'm wrong)...

But it fits him, he does look insatiable.

 

I liked "Jungle Book" as lot as a kid. Still do. It's just a wonderful film.

 

I loved that story, too. I remember being enchanted by the film (it's been years since I've seen it, though). To be honest, I don't really like Rudyard Kipling... he's somewhat of a racist (though I suppose I can't completely fault a guy for the society he was brought up in).

 

He was? I've read two books of his, "Jungle Books" and "Kim".

I like the music "Jungle Book" opens with: mysterious, Eastern music. Very good.

What's your favourite?

 

I love Eastern music. I adored that flavor that was present in the film.

Oh, and my favorite what? Disney movie? Disney soundtrack? Kipling book?

And yes, many of his writings had a superior, Imperialist overtone (I can't even repeat some of the verses here). Heck, he wrote "The White Man's Burden".

 

Ah well, that's a pity.

Though I must admit I tend to separate the book and its author, especially if they're a century old. TS Eliot was a racist, so was Ezra Pound. But I wouldn't want to keep a Black List with forbidden authors for myself, if you know what I mean.

 

Of couse, he was a product of his time. And I'm certainly not a book burner... I can definitely seperate a good piece of work from any faults an author may possess.

 

Maybe it's because I was never a minority or a victim. Maybe it's harder to take if you're the victim of whatever discrimination takes place or is promoted in a book.

Yeah, in fact, I think that's it. I wouldn't want to read a book by someone who loves bullfighting (Hemmingway).

 

Believe me, my hubby particularly dislikes Kipling (who says some horrible things about Eastern culture, and India in particular).

 

Ah see, that must be it. I, being white and living in a capitalistic country, read it from a different viewpoint.

 

I didn't realize that there were racist and sexist sentiments in Kipling's work until my hubby pointed some of his more obscure writings out to me. I needed to have a third person view.
