computer science? a very practical and useful major. of course i've never been very practical or useful myself, that's why i majored in phiosophy :p

i did take a couple computer science courses but i never had very good instructors.

Well, yeah, I did want to take something somewhat practical that I knew I could make a reasonable living off of. And, what can I say? I'm addicted to computers, and I think in a logical manner that should make me quite capable of being good at programming etc. So, being addicted to computers and otherwise capable of the field, what else could I take? :p Also, my dad's a software engineer and majored on computer science in college (actually, both my parents majored in computer science), so I guess I've kind of always seen myself doing that kind of thing.

Oh yes, you did philosophy, DZ -- why not open a thread about it so we can discuss it a bit? I'm a bit of a philo-philosopher myself. :D

    Howdy one and all. :D

Hmmm... I suppose I should go and read the last few pages to see what you people are talking about... but then again, I'm simply too lazy. It must be thea heat that is getting to me... :p

It's super hot and humid here... my hubby and I went swimming and then sauntered over to the mall and got him some sandals (some nice Roman design Tevas). We also had dinner while we were out... now we're home, and I think we're going to put on a movie once we're off our computers (he's playing the Sims as I'm typing this).
Well, that's my day in a nutshell...

    :( Debo, I am sorry. :p

I tried a long distance relationship and it didn't work for me. Physical presense just for comfort alone, is something that I believe is essential to any relationship working.

Yeah, I've come to believe that as well, Miss. I think we both started to understand it wouldn't really work, but no one wanted to be the one to say the party's over.

But somehow I really don't know what to say about it.

Debo, yeah. To me, you sound indifferent. Not shocked; not sad; not hurt, just neutral. :p

Which is probably for the best.

I'm feeling relieved, if anything, though I don't want to sound tough or seem proud about that. But it's hard to have the feeling you have to "perform" for someone every day; send stuff, be nice, be there.

Plus, it'd be easier if it wasn't such a grand task every time you did it, you know?

Precisely. Sometimes a relationship is just being with each other, without having to communicate -- and not having the feeling you have to justify it by sending great letters or e-mails or letting the phone bill go sky-high.

EDIT: Reading that, I'm not sure it's proper grammar.

Yes, I've found that it is difficult keeping in touch with any friends on the net for long periods of time... It's just not the same as spending time with him or her in person.

Exactly. The little things are important. The moment a simple phone call becomes complicated, the whole point is wasted. :p

That's why they rarely work. But congrats to anyone reading this that did make it work.... It's just really uncommon (but it makes it even more special).

Debo, no fears. You'll find someone who isn't an ocean away. :)

Well, Miss: I'm always strangely attracted to foreign girls. I want someone who's oceans away. :D

Naturally, either I or she has to move then. But I'm not too attached to Holland anyway.
