This place is rather... dead.

My loans are through the gov't (and bank), but they gotta be paid back no matter what starting 6 months after graduation

 

I heard you didn't have to pay it back while working overseas, Kerryn...?

No you don't if you work overseas because you're not paying any tax to the Australian government. Your family doesn't have to pay it back if you die either.

 

hmm, that's interesting. they have a system here where you can start by making small payments to pay back your loans, then pay more when you start making more money. but right now i can't afford to pay anything, so they have a thing called derferment that you can request if you're not able to pay. the bad thing is the loans keep collecting interest and you can only have them in deferment for a max of 3 years. the system here really sucks.

i think i like Derek's idea.

EDIT: Casper, you are really lucky that you haven't had to take out any loans, they certainly are a nuisance.
