Tripping the Rift

Anyone a fan of Tripping the Rift, which has accurately been called South Park in Space?

Certainly a sketchy show at times, but hilarious.

 

It's one of those extremely dumb shows that is so dumb, it's funny. I think it's okay.

 

It is incredible inconsistant. One weeks its kind of funny the next week its not very funny at all. Overall I still enjoy it. Got the first season on DVD and I've got the new episodes set up on Tivo but it still isn't ground breaking or really all that funny, just enjoyable.

The whole "South Park in _____" thing is getting a little old though. Seems like for nine years thats how they've described any and every "adult" or even semi-adult cartoon. You'd think they could come up with something better by now.

 

I think this show is funny... I watch it when I am having a late night.

 

No. The show sucks. Why do people watch this crap?

 

I loved the original short film that got the series greenlit (though it took easily 5 or 6 years to actually be produced). Never seen the series itself.

They are absolutely nothing alike.

 

They have a couple similarities.

 

They added a lot of new for the series... and the humor in the short seemed a bit more, subtle? That's not the right word. Maybe not so much shocking as it tries to be on the show.

 

Yeah, the show doesn't have fullblown nudity in it, but it comes close

 

I do not know why some of you think this show is so bad... I think some of it is funny, how they incorperate a lot of current issues into them and turn them so upside down.

Like the totally gay planet with the leader being model after the New Jersey Governor who came out of the closet, that was pretty funny.

 

Well obviously they are similar. It was effectively the pilot episode. One was funny though and the other mildly amusing.

 

I've enjoyed it when I've had the chance to see it.

 

No, I'm not a fan. I saw one episode and found it to be pretty stupid.
The plots seem to be pretty lame.

 

It is average.

Anyone pick up the DVD today?

I had forgotten it came out today. I was looking at my DVR recordings and noticed there was a lot of Tripping the Rift scheduled for today but I couldn't figure out why until I got the e-mail from Amazon saying they shipped season 2.

Now my question is why does Sci-Fi constantly do that?

I saw one episode of this a while ago. I wasn't overly impressed by it. In fact, I found it quite underwhelming.

 

Hm, that seems like a fast release for season 2. I wonder if they've upped it for a third season.

 

Don't know. I haven't heard anything and I found more then a few sites that says it hasn't been picked up but those were all written around the time that SG-1 was announced for renewal so they're a bit old.

Its been six months so its not really that rushed of a DVD release. It is kind of a bad sign (depending on how you look at it) that it wasn't released as a set up for a third season (which is what you usually see).

It did well enough raiting wise for Sci-Fi so I wouldn't be surprised to see it back again. It probably depends on what they've got new and maybe they released it at this time to check sales before going for a 3rd.

 

I've never really liked this. It's not terrible, I just don't like it.

 

I like it, but I hardly ever watch the show.

 

I watched 2 minutes last night and found myself thinking, "what a stupid show". It seems to center around sex. Almost every joke/situation/event/character is related to, or has something to do with, sex.

 

But sex IS beautiful. Ergo Tripping the Rift=beautiful?
