    Now...when I thought of what I would choose for this task, it came to me pretty easily. This flick...this flick was one that would totally change me forever (I think :p )...and helped me to create both a unique JC screen name and persona. What movie do I speak-of, you ask? What the hell? You don't know? Jeekits....what friggin' ROCK have some of you been living under? I'm talking about a killer and grand epic of a flick...the flick?

    "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo"

    :cool:

    :p

    Nah...the actual movie is...

    [image=http://rotoguru2.com/hoop/mad/memento.jpg]

    "Memento"

    :cool:

    Now, for those of you who have been living under a rock for the last three years, Memento follows the trail of an individual known as Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce)....or "Lenny" as his wife used to call him (Man, did he hate it ;) )... Lenny is a very interesting character except for one major flaw: He has short-term memory loss (Hey! Just like me! :p ).

    [image=http://www.dragonpc.biz/gp/film/mem/images/mem13.jpg] [image=http://www.dragonpc.biz/gp/film/mem/images/mem12.jpg]

    And through the course of the movie Lenny is trying to find the killer and rapist of his wife. Basing everything that he knows simply on Polaroid pictures, his incomplete journal, and tattoos, Leonard has made his life's work dedicated to one thing and one thing alone: REVENGE. Aided by the mysterious Teddy (Joe Pantoliano) and the seemingly sweet Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss), Lenny is totally obsessed with finding the killer..."John G"....and he will stop at nothing until his task is completed...even if he won't remember it afterwords...which is always the case.

    [image=http://lecinemadebruno.free.fr/Films/Memento/Teddy.jpg] [image=http://www.cinema.com/image_lib/4493_039_thumb.jpg]

    The narrative of "Memento" is very original, fresh, and interesting. There are two directions the movie moves. The color scenes move backwards (to give you the "feel" of Lenny's condition), and the black and white scenes move in forward motion...until the two meet in the middle for an explosive ending to the film (which is actually the MIDDLE of the film ;) )...that shows just how dangerous and how much of a weakness that Lenny's condition is to his life. Doing everyday regular things...like simply checking-in and out of hotel rooms...proves to be incredibly difficult...because he forgets things almost instantaneously...

    Now...as far as impact goes...Hmmm..I'd say that it definitely had some kind of impact...I mean...I am using the main character's name as my JC screename...and for my name on many many other message boards, etc. So I think it definitely had a profound impact on me...whether I can fully explain it or not...it's just one of those things, I guess...//shrugs// :)

    This movie is an instant cult classic...and should be everyone's "Must See" list...if not their "Must Own" list. The movie is incredibly unique and ingenious. I give it my highest recommendation...you all should run-out and rent it if you have yet to view this masterpiece. And make sure to watch it more than once before you return it...because you'll be totally frikken lost after the first viewing...which is great, becasue you're thirsting to watch it more and more and more...

    Oh...and while yer at it...make sure to rent "Cabin Boy" too....that one is awesome as well... ;) :D

    You'll be glad that you did... ;)

    Sammy, you've just given me a brilliant idea for Memento 2!

    Lenny meets up with another person who suffers from short term memory loss, played by Chris Elliot. While looking at Lenny's tattoos Chris decides that they must actually be brothers who used to be part of a breakdancing troup and lost their memories by spinning on their heads so much. What follows is a madcap romp through the city involving resurrecting Teddy with the Necronomicon, and a talking squeeky shark named Sonny that they keep in a briefcase.

    Actually, scratch that. It sounds too much like "Dude, Where's My Car?"

    (By the way, was Leonard really Sammy Jenkins?)

    "(By the way, was Leonard really Sammy Jenkins?)"

    No. Sammy Jenkis was an actual person...but a person who was committing insurance fraud. He didn't actually have short-term memory loss and Lenny nailed him on it. But the thing is, he was confusing his story with Sammy's. He was putting Sammy into his shoes on what actually happened to him. The mental ward, the insulin shots, all of that...it all actually happened to himself...not Sammy. If that makes any sense... :p

    Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Sammy take a second shot in the film and died because of it? Didn't that prove that he really had short term memory loss...? I mean, his wife repeated the process a second time and he injected himself twice.. killing him, no?

    Nope. Sammy (who was actually Lenny) gave his wife one too many insulin shots. You see, his wife (not Sammy's...he wasn't married) couldn't take what had become of Lenny...so she tested him...and it eventually killed her... ;) :)

    Dang. That's a great movie. One of the most creative films ever.

    And I'd pay to see a Cabin Boy/Memento crossover.

    Hehe, thanks for clearing that up again, bud.. :)

    I haven't seen Memento since March... and I've only seen it once. So, eh, my memory of it isn't the best. I need to watch it again, actually..
