It's called, " I am permantly slender." I just stareted listening to it at night. I need to do the full routine, listening to it morning, noon and night for a couple weeks before I can tell you about it's effectiveness.

    Day 11,12,13,& 14:

There is a saying that goes: "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."

That is precisely what happend to me yesterday and is happening to me today. When I do not have my diet foods prepared, where the only thing I have to do is heat it up in a microwave then I will eat junk foods. This is what happend to me because of a project I was doing at work, I did not eat breakfast. Since I was not prepared at night I stopped off at Jack in the Box. I will say that I didn't eat any HIGH fat burgers, fries, or high sugar sodas but I did eat a bit. I ate two Chicken sandwiches (scraped off the mayo and only ate them with one bun) and a .99 cent cheeseburger which I also removed the bun. To drink I had a lemonade. No too bad but not good either. I will not beat myself up for this.

Which brings me to my second point. There are a lot of people that beat themselves up or quit their diet as soon as they binge or eat something not in their diet. To me, this is a lifelong project so dust yourself off and get back on the diet. Yet, I also notice that I let myself off too easily for my indescretions(sp?) with my diet. I know that I should hold myself more accountable for my mistakes. I guess I really need to think about this.

More than anything this weekend, esp Sunday, I will prepare my meals for the entire week.

Today is starting off ok. Again I have not prepared anything. So I am going to double my efforts to control myself. Tonight I won't go to the gym but I will be moving and sweating tonight(not that! But I can wish.) At least that will get me some exercise.

I have not mentioned this here, but I want to thank you all for allowing me to post my thoughts and my experiences with my diet and fitness program. I feel accountable and so I feel that I can't cheat too badly because you all will be on my case, which is what I want. Thank You.

Well all, I got some fraggin' shocking news today. It started like this. The past few weeks I've been dragging. All the sleep in the world was not enough. I'd sleep all night, have a hard time getting up in the morning, coming home after dropping Christy off and going back to sleep until noon or so. One day I fell asleep and my mom couldn't wake me up. I slept through the alarm I set and didn't hear her talking to me.

On Friday, my friend suggested I get my thyroid checked. I told her that my doctor said she would not check it again until this april.

Last night my sister from Colo. called and read me the riot act because of my weight. She asked about my thryroid, cholesterol and glucose levels. I told her the doctor said they were all within normal range. That's when she basically threatened me to go get my last test results. (she had a heart attack 2 years ago due to poor medical care.)

Well, my doctor is a stupid idiot. She never bothered to tell me that my LDL is 139 and my HDL is 39. The lab even flagged it. According to their chart, at my LDL level, I need serious intervention. My serum glucose is borderline at 97 and my thyroid is low.

I'm a heart attack waiting to happen. I'm changing doctors immediately. I'm taking my food eating plans seriously. This is no longer an option. I went along for years being told by my doctor that it was ok that I was overweight because I was healthy. This isn't the case anymore.

Thank you all for the support you have given me. Special thanks to ZOO for also pushing me to check into my past blood work.

Here is to living what I preach.

Jada, I'm here for you. You have my support, I know you can do it! I suggest you post here so that you can document your struggles and success and receive encourgement.

    Day 15:

Yesterday was a good day. I prepared my food on Sunday and I didn't have to scramble to find suitable diet food or cheat or binge. Planning my food ahead of time works wonders. Who knew! Also had a good workout. Really blasted my legs although it led to a difficult time getting up this morning. Still trying to get that part squared away.

    Thanks Chewie! :D

I cut back on my coffeemate this morning. I used one tbls and then cut it with 1% milk for the coffee. I'm hoping to completely cut back to just flavored coffee beans and milk.

So far so good today. but haven't had lunch yet . . .

Make sure to always have some breakfast and a small snack before lunch. In this way you do not overeat. Also eventually, cut out the coffee entirely but if you can't, have an equal amount of water.

Hey! It's me! The water Queen (sounds like a new sock to me! 8-}). I ate breakfast this morning and I mean to take an apple with me to eat in between teaching classes but I forgot.

Did great at lunch. HUGE salad with red onions (just to make me more popular ;)), 1/2 c. kidney beans, 1/2 red pepper, 1/4 c. mozzerella cheese, salsa ranch dressing over mixed greens (mixed greens with purple . . . very mixed). All I've had to drink since the 2 cups of java this morning is water . . . I'm about up to 64 oz. at this point!

Actually coffee is a mild diuretic (the caffenine), so a cup of coffee actually removes water from your system. I'm just not sure what the net loss is for coffee. But at least you are getting your water in.

Nice looking salad there, probably needs a bit more protein but looks good (i.e Yummy) nontheless.

The beans were the protein. I should have added some chicken.

Well, my mother is out to kill me. She made gingerbread tonight! Why? :(

Had my body fat tested today. I was at 19.9%.

Still needs to be lower but it is an improvement from my last check in October or Novemeber. I think I was 22.?%

I'm not really sure what my ideal is but I would guess it is 15% or lower. Does anyone know?

    Men: 15% and under
    Women: 25% and under

OK, did great until last night's gingerbread debacle :(

Today I'm planning on getting in a 1/2 hour walk with the dog. I did strength training in the water yesterday. I need to add on Tuesdays and Thursdays alternating upper body and lower body on the floor and then do a full body strength training session on Saturday or Sunday.

Now, just read in The Schwartzbein Principle that you shouldn't eat anything you couldn't pick, hunt, harvest or gather. I could gather coffee beans and milk a cow for milk so I think that makes coffee legal! [face_grin]

    Day 16:

Good day yesterday, although at night after working out, I had a psychological pang of hunger. I got over that quite easily. Also, I was watching the Travel channel and they were doing a comparison on NY vs Chicago pizza. I was tempted but nothing I couldn't handle especially since I told myself to wait until Saturday which is my day off the diet. Things going great so far although I am still at 225. But I do see my clothes fitting me a little better.

Edit: Dr. Phil says that you need to build a circle of support. This means that they must be willing to help you and not be a burden or distraction while in this lifestyle change. Which means that friends and family must not bring gingerbread around!

A good fat % is going to be different for everyone. It really depends on your body structure.

My niece had her's done and the guy that did it told her that she was in horrible shape.

Her % was 35+. Well he didnt take into consideration that she has a size 38 ddd breasts.

Tomorrow I can post a scale on age and % if you guys want.

    Master,

With LA Fitness are you in sales or are you being groomed for management?

Also, I just posted the general guideline. Of course if someone has an endowment such of which you spoke, it reasons to say that the body fat% might be up there. A better indicator would be the BMI.

Let's not discuss the BMI. I have issues with that. If there was a BMI for Endomorphs, Mesomorphs, and Ectomorphs, then maybe I would trust it.

Edit: According to the BMI, I should be 111 - 146 lbs  What! I have to put on muscle in order to be healthy. I put on muscle relatively easy, so that alone would put me at 165-175.

I have an inside hint that I am being promoted to assistant manager by March. WoohOOOoooOOOOoooOOO

One step closer to moving back to Phoenix.

Master, I don't know how it is over at LA Fitness but at Naturally Women they burn out managers real quick. If LA Fitness offers Yoga or Tai Chi, take it! Cause you'll need it.

Then again I don't know if it is like our club with all the ladies whining . . . it's too hot, it's too cold, I don't like this music, open the door, close the door, this thing is too fast, this one is too slow, etc.

Well, if I can get through the rest of the night without raiding the frig I'll have had a good day! [face_happy]

The main problem with "womens only gyms" is that most women dont get in shape there.

The managers at LA Fitness make over 6 figures so they usually stick around if they are any good.

I would have to agree with you there. I'd say 10% of the ladies actually effect change in their bodies at my club. And those are usually the ones with personal trainers and/or are working closely with the nutrition department and their doctors.

An LA Fitness opened up across the street from our location and I am sorely tempted to go check it out except for the fact that if I leave my club, my old membership goes into effect.

    Day 17.

Another good day nutrition-wise. I also went to the gym and did 40 minutes of elliptical. Not bad, if I do say so myself. I met up with a personal trainer, that was part of the complementary package with membership. He seems ok, may teach me somethings but will not be needed if the service requires an extra charge. He taught me a few things already and I will meet with him on Saturday. I'll see what else he can show me.

The office where I am currently working at is having pizza. Though tempted, I will wait a couple more days.

Edit: The trainer took my weight and BF%. Although I don't want to rely on these numbers, since it fluctuates due to water weight, Yesterday I was 223 and 30% BF. Not bad, going down know. I think I will take measurements on Fridays since I "carbo-load" on the weekeends.

    Day 18-21:

Thursday and Friday were ok days. I stuck to my clean eating on thursday but Friday I ate some Chinese food expecting to make it up on Saturday. Sunday I had planned for chips and soda and Superbowl watching. I did not exercise these 2 days but I did go dancing.

Saturday and Sunday: Plans are sometimes just that, plans. The reality is much different. My dad was in town (info to follow on my xanga site.) Well with him in town, needless to say I did not eat well, since we went out to eat. I tried to eat heathy, whereever we went, Denny's or Casino Arizona Buffett. I still ate carbs though. I am happy to say I did exercise while he was here. I planned on taking him to the gym but right as I was getting ready to go, he got sleepy so I left him behind.

Monday did not start off well, becuase I woke up late so I did not eat breakfast, but I am back on track.

Edit: My Digital Camera was stolen this past Thursday, so my plan to put up progress pictures every 2 weeks is so far shot. Anyone who knows where I can buy a 3.2 megapixel digital camera for really cheap, please let me know.

    Day 22:

Today was a odd day for me. I teach class between 9-11am. Because I was running around, preparing for this, I didn't eat breakfast. After class, my students are asking me questions so I didn't eat until 12pm. I stuck to my diet after that yet after work I felt drained. I was tired from the weekend proceedings so Monday morning was a blah day for me. When I got home I was in no mood for working out and was in the mood for a hot dog. I went to Basha's and both low fat chicken franks (I refuse to buy tofu dogs) and I used whole wheat bread. I also bought Lean Cusine pizza and some barbeque chicken. I realize that if I don't eat breakfast AND I am stressed from class, my cortisol levels will rise and I will be more prone to binging. These are the days that I will have to break though this. I think I need some preparation time at night for breakfast meals so in the morning all I have to do is pop it in the microwave and eat. I might need additional help from Dr. Phil and Bill Philips.

P.S. This morning, I am running around again and I missed breakfast. I am not going to lose fat if I keep on doing this. I MUST EAT BREAKFAST!

P.P.S. There is definately a pattern here that I must resolve. I just want to thank you all for reading about my trials and tribulations and reading me whine and complain about the same things over and over again.
