I'm thinking the AIP contract under ACTRA really blows. ACTRA should stand for A-holes Crushing The Rights of Artists. Well ok it's not ACTRA themselves but that particular segment that sucks.


I thought getting a union contract would be spiffy but man was I ever wrong.

ACTRA is supposed to give low budget independent films the ability to hire Canadian actors, thereby promoting this countries talent in the entertainment industry. No wonder it barely ever works. The list of restrictions with these people is disgusting.

I mean whoever heard of making a film with no US support whatsoever? I understand they want the project to be Canadian owned but they have really crossed the line this time.

The enitre key crew and cast must be Canadian residents.

Goodbye Jim Siokos, Kyle Newmaster, Zach Jensen, Krista Gibson and of course, Adam Baldwin? Well I think you can probably guess where they can shove their contract.

Then they want me to commit to paying every single actor on set, with lines or not. Once again, where do they get off? How can they ever hope to assist a low budget production by increasing it?!

What's the point of getting in the Union if my budget skyrockets by $10,000 due to fees, payroll, insurance and everything else? Freakin spice junkies, the lot of them.

 

k two things, 1. set us up w a link and we will do an email campaign with regards to the restrictions, there is NO WAY those kind of limitations are helping any Canadian film makers...

i swear this Country, we are are own worst enemy, we have a real hard time seeing the big picture!! anyway hook us up w a link, even post your rant in the to boards as we have some projects in the works, i am sure everyone will be interested

Anyone who is on the hunt for the new Saga figures, I found the Battle of Carkoon line at the Zellers in Westmount Mall. I bought only Han Solo though.

I also bought a King Kong Vastatosaurus Rex. Nice addition to my T-Rex collection
