Of all the Star Wars soundtracks, this is without a doubt the most difficult from which to choose a favorite. I've grown up with this soundtrack. First, the OST on vinyl, which I got for my birthday in 1977. I got the German Polygram cd version when it came out in the mid-80s. And then this spectacular RCA Special Edition release in 1997. (Due to some silly financial priorities, I didn't get the Anthology until after the SEs.)

It's such a hard decision, but I clicked "The Throne Room/End Title", just barely over "The Hologram/Binary Sunset" and "The Battle Of Yavin".

And just to eliminate any arguments, this is the greatest film soundtrack of all time. :)

The unity in dedication and craftsmanship of this score precludes the selection of one track as the best.

    But what's your favorite?

C'mon, pick a favorite, even if it's only for the moment! :)

The Cantina Band music is so loveable and always provokes so many memories. Where would the infamous Cantina scene be without its wonderful band playing? [face_dancing]

Though I have to say, the opening title wins, completely. I probably should have voted for that... Words can't explain the magnitude of that score. [face_peace]

The Battle of Yavin. No other track in the trilogy matches it.

Undoubtedly. I also voted for the Throne Room. There is no part in that track that is in the slightest bit boring or filler. It's just pure fun, and pure Star Wars. When I think of Star Wars, I think of this track.

Oh, this is hard! [face_thinking] I love them all! [face_love]
But I guess, if I had to choose just one, it'd be The Throne Room/End Title.
It's got a little bit of almost everything. :)

Throne Room. That's the first of the Star Wars endings, and it still has that powerful feeling of triumph in it, since it was expected to be the only Star Wars movie produced. Simple, yet effective.

The Battle of Yavin. In particular, I love the fugato Force theme right at "I'm going to cut across the axis and try and draw their fire". Possibly my biggest complaint against the DVD release is that the music was mixed so low against the sound effects here. I also love the diminished scale version of the main theme when R2 gets hit.

Don't even get me started about that! I've been working off and on about trying to find a way to remix that and some other really shoddy sections, but I haven't done enough research to figure out how to remaster it all together and preserve the 5.1 mix.

For me, it's "Princess Leia's Theme". About as beautiful as "Love Theme from Superman" composed a year later.

I have to go with Cantina Band. That was one of my favorite things about ANH when I first saw it and I love that track. Anywhere you play it anyone who hasn't been living under a rock will know where it's from.
