FF:WA Whatever shall we do?

While all the other states in Australia seem to have a never-ending list of bands coming and going, conventions happening, film studios to break into and all sorts of other fun stuff, poor WA is left with nothing but sending powder to court rooms to entertain ourselves. So, my question to all of you:

Whatever shall we do? Is there actually anything to do in Perth (we already know there isn't anything to do in Kalgoorlie you guys lucked out straight away there). What is it that you guys do for fun? With Soup now working regular hours we have a lot more spare daylight time to go and do stuff in, but nothing ever seems to happen. Or does it?

No no! You've got it all wrong. Here in Kalgoorlie we have a great night life. Lots of pubs with either dodgy live bands or video screens playing the latest top 40 hip-hop. Quality stuff - seriously.

One thing I did find in Perth though. I don't know about the alternative scene and other scenes but in the underground dance scene there was an interesting phenomenon. There'd often be events with top quality local DJs who in many cases are right up there with the imports, but people wouldn't turn up. Yet you get an event with a big name international DJ turning up and people all buy tickets, even though I've seen a lot of internationals who were well and truly inferior to some of the local talent. A bit sad that more people don't support the local talent and then complain that there's nothing happening. Not sure if it's similar in other scenes.

Well I just got back from Bar 120 and had to stand in line for an hour and half just to get in. That's definately the place to be on a Wednesday night it looks like, I guess if your 18 of course....I'm getting too old for this sort of thing....

Cause when I do go out (not very often), I still get asked for ID. I'm 26! And once I had one that said I looked a lot darker and was terribly rude. Bastard.

Last week I was at the pub and I walked up the stairs I'd JUST come down from in front of the bouncers and he yells "Oi...Get the **** off the stairs! Only VIP up there...go through the ******* door!"
Ofcourse I am VIP and he knew I was...he was a **** to everyone that night.

 

Depends on the club I guess. I've worked at a lot of clubs and there are some bouncers like that but generally I found them to be very professional. I know that you'd expect them to be nice to a DJ but when friends came to where I worked they never had any problems with bouncers so it wasn't just me. Most of them were nice guys (and girls in a few cases).
