Janson listened to Izen's plan, agreeing with it. There might be better options, but probably not with what they had on hand. "Twelve, I like it. Unless a lot of you have some huge objections to this plan, I think it's our best option. It's got my go-ahead. Even with the experience I've had, I've not run into anything quite like this. Usually we just run. I'll volunteer to fly the trench. Thirteen, you can go with me as my wingman or you can switch out with somebody else. Anyone have any objections?"

While he waited, Wes thought about the plan. The best way to do it, he thought, would be to come at the Destroyer in the 'cloaking' formation from below, with the trench runners breaking off at the bow of the ship, and running the gauntlet in the trench. The cover fighters would emerge over top the bow, and hopefully the Imps wouldn't notice the split until it was too late, and the trench runners blasted the shield domes.

Alright, let's get this over with.

"Qualities of organic life, and the occasional usefulness of such qualities is greatly unbalanced by the many situations in which they are detrimental."

"Uh huh..." was all that Seth was able to say after RPT's little lesson about his views on humans and, like when he first saw the squad, Seth couldn't help but convey another, What have I gotten myself into? through his mind.

Suddenly not wanting to continue the conversation with the droid, Seth turned around in his seat to looking at the viewing screen that showed the simulation that the other pilots were running. A quick scan over the what they were up against made Seth mentally wince. Two Star Destroyers and plenty of TIE Fighters to go around. That seemed a bit...much. Considering how low on discipline the squadron was and how new the pillots probably were to each other, Seth wasn't expecting the squadron to win this one.

Having already contributed one suggestion, Mrrva waited quietly as the group discussed all manner of outlandish suggestions. She sighed slightly. All these hotshots, and so many crackpot ideas. Perhaps it was because the simulation was ridiculous. A few X-Wings against two Star Destroyers and a number of TIEs? With no backup? Great...a suicidal simulation. How novel.

At least her wingmate seemed to have a few ideas. "Following yourr lead, Twelve," she said curtly, adding, "unless anyone herrre would preferr the besst defense against these SDs...bolting." There was a slight laugh to her voice. She had always been taught 'pick the battles you know you can win', and this ran completely against that. In her view, it would be far more likely for them, had this not been simulated, to use their hyperdrives and escape, coming back to fight at some point when they actually had decent backup. After all, X-Wings were not meant to battle alone...they were supposed to be part of a larger group, including bigger ships.

    Sim Run

It did not take long before he heard the XO comm over the comm in response saying ?"Twelve, I like it. Anyone have any objections?" Well this was definitely unusual for him, normally by now his CO was chewing him out for his actions or what not. It would happen in time no matter what it always did and frankly he did not care what his CO thought of him he was doing his duty only in time would the rest realize exactly what that was...

before he could respond Mrrva came over the comm channel saying ?Following yourr lead, Twelve," before adding, "unless anyone herrre would preferr the besst defense against these Sds...bolting.? The last was a good idea but not what they were asked to do, if this was anything but a simulation he probably would suggested the idea seriously. Seeing as it was a simulation trying the absurd tactic wouldn't really do anything but end the sim run for him earlier than maybe something else. I wonder what real kinds of missions we will have are, if we face this on a real mission the rumors about this squad will be true it is full of nut cases who shouldn't be flying.

Thumbing his comm on again he responed ?Thank you sir, and if I am allowed to I would like to lead the flight providing the distraction. Since it is my idea I would like to at least lead the group most likely to get blasted and allow better pilots to make the trench run. You still want to have my wing fourteen?? before killing the comm again and waiting for a response.

Mrrva laughed over the com. "Surrre. You lead, I follow, Twelve." She shrugged slightly. It was an absurd situation, and so she had decided that she might as well do something that fit right in. At least it would mean action, rather than just sitting around talking. No amount of talking was going to make those Star Destroyers spontaneously implode...not even if it was couched in the kind of colourful and obscene language she'd heard from time to time.

    IC: Josh Falen
    ~Simulation Training~

Josh received a concise response from his roommate, who called himself Izen Dagar. Josh concluded that his unwillingness to converse was a good thing; he would rather be stuck with someone who never talked rather than someone who would never shut up.

Thor entered moments later and began the briefing. He started off by introducing the Chimera squads XO, Lt. Janson. Then, the squad leader motioned a droid forward, who carried a large box with it. Thor pulled something out of it, which Josh recognized to be the squads uniform. Immediately, everyone approached the uniforms and grabbed one. Josh waited until the crowd died away, then grabbed one of his own. He held it up in front of him and shrugged; it wasn't that bad of a uniform.

After everyone had a good look at their uniforms, the squad moved to the simulation room for the first time. The room was dark at first, but once light spilled in, it illuminated a large room that fitted more than a dozen sims. At the command of Thor, all the pilots, Josh included, hopped in a sim, and strapped in. Displayed on the screen was the information Josh had been dieing to know - the squad pairings. He was listed as Chimera 13, in Wing Two along with the XO, Wes Janson, and in Flight Two. Josh wondered if it was a random drawing, or if he was paired with the best pilot in the squad for a reason; bad or good...

Josh placed his helmet on his head, and watch as his flight simulator went black. Suddenly, his viewscreen was filled by a planetary system and two Star Destroyers. Accompanying the two SDs were loads of TIE fighters. Just the sight of this brought back memories from his childhood where he and Hal would spend hours in the flight simulators. Thor announced the plan; Flight One was to take the TIEs, and Flights Two and Three were to take the two Star Destroyers. Josh shook his head; odds were definitely not in their favor.

"Two flight, Janson here," said a voice over the comm. "Glad to have you with me Tharc, you too Ar'Jar, and especially you, Josh. Glad to have you on my wing." Josh didn't know what to reply quite yet, he was too busy conspiring ways to take down the two SD's, so he simply clicked his comm for acknowledgment. Within moments, ideas began to be traded back in forth as the Flights moved in closer to the two Destroyers. Janson denied a few before finally choosing the "Trench Run" tactic along with a diversion. "I'll volunteer to fly the trench," said Janson. "Thirteen, you can go with me as my wingman or you can switch out with somebody else. Anyone have any objections?"

"I will accompany you," said Josh forming up on Wes' starboard wing. While he awaited for the battle to commence, he reached inside his flight suit and pulled out a necklace, grasping it in his hands. Connected to the necklace was a small locket in the shape of a helmet. Inside was a picture of Josh with his best friend Hal when they were just entering college. Ever since he had this necklace, it proved to be his good luck charm. Even though this was a simulation, Josh knew he would need some luck.

Thor leaned back in his pilot couch. He realized full and well that the squad was up against practically unbeatable odds, but he did that on purpose. He wanted to see them work together?and with this situation?they had to.

He opened the comm. to his flight as the Ties quickly approached. ?All right guys. We need to keep these guys occupied. I say we split up into wings, and each take a squad. I know it?s tough, but this is the kind of stuff we?ll be expected to do. So lets make the best of it. Sound good??

A rhythmic ting of metal hitting metal echoed through the all but empty halls. It was rather early in the morning, and the Home One was all but asleep. Em-Three-Dee was the newest model of protocol droid that the market could get its hands on. The male programmed droid was fluent in over 3 million languages, well versed in all battles strategies from galactic history, had a state of the art filing and organized data system, and boasted a streak of annoying outbursts that could rival See-Three-P-Oh himself. Em-Three-Dee took all the tasks that Commander Nietzsche gave him-even though he detested the meat sack-even when those orders were to retrieve yet another pilot, and breaking Rebel squadron protocol even more than was already the case. Em-Three made the last turn into the hangar bay, and saw the object of his venture. He walked up to the man and slightly bowed, as was custom when greeting humans.

?Greetings. I am Em-Three-Dee, human cyborg relations. It is my duty to escort you to the Sim room, where Chimera Squadron is practicing flight maneuvers.?

Mrrva responded with ?"Surrre. You lead, I follow, Twelve."

Ah well at least some one was going to go along with him on this, as absurd as this whole idea was going to be at least his wingmate was still going to have his wing. Hopefully though it would be him to take the first major hits of the distraction, it was his laser brained idea and it was only fair he be the first go for the foolish idea of actually taking on those two ImpStars. What the hell have I come up with in an attempt to fit in here. Nothing like screwing yourself over when you don't have to... He thought to himself with a half smile under his breathing mask, he had voiced an idea that was probably going to get him killed but at least it was slightly better than what else had been stated.

A quick glance down at his controls did not put his mind any more at east they were outnumbered nearly 10 to 1 by Imperial Starfighters and for the most part they were just sitting targets till the actually began their assualt. Shaking his head he flicked him comm channel open saying ?Lets get this party started lead or it might be over before the fun begins.?

    Personality: Humble, Friendly and Loyal.
Bad attributes (why they are an ?undesirable?): Nervousness and insecurity.
Specialty (medic, sniper, slicer): Tracker and Sniper.
History: Born on Gand, Ryyle was an insignificant member of society for nearly twenty years before he gained the ability to use his family name. With immense success in the arts of the Findsman, chief amongs them assassination, he became a reasonably well known Gand off of Gand. With several high name assassinations and retreivals, followed by a heroic rescue of a shipwrecked crew on an instable ship, Ryyle was declared janwuine, and can refer to himself as I. Ryyle experienced success after success, until one fateful day he accidentally fired upon and killed a high ranking non-uniformed Imperial intelligence officer. Numerous warrants for arrest, and eventually a death mark were placed on Ryyle Xere's name, and have forced him to work with the Rebellion in the hopes of living life in peace once more. Having recently joined an Alliance squadron, Ryyle found his place amongst the rebellion, only to have nearly his whole squadron destroyed in a disastrous battle. His squadron disbanded, Ryyle now searches for a new home amongst the rebel squads...

    IC: Ryyle Xere:

Home One hung in space before him. He had never had the opportunity to step aboard the Rebel flagship before... It was a completely new environment, with completely new people, and completely new relationships. This thought sent a twinge of sadness through Ryyle's mind. He had bonded well with his last squad, to the point in which they felt like a family unit. They were all invincible in their own minds. It wasn't until they got caught in a slugging match between the Mon Remonda and an ImpStar Deuce, the name of which he could momentarily not remember, in which death became a glaring reality. They had gone in in the hopes of driving several squads of Squints and Eyeballs off of a Y-wing squad making an attack run. The Capital ships opened fire. The results where disastrous. None of the Y-wings survived the furball and the first volley combined. Most of his squad was down by the third volley. By the end, only he and his disabled wingman remained, against nearly a full squad of Eyeballs. Salvation came in the form of a squad of A-wings and a shuttle to pick up his downed friend...

But that was the past, and this is now. His actions where apparently noticed by Starfighter Command, as they had requested that he join Home One in his fighter. Glancing at his system reports, he quietly noted some below average performance on his top port engine. Sparing a second to glance back at his R5 unit, Ryyle nodded. "We need to check on that faulty engine later, Fenix." Facing forward once more, Ryyle opened a com line with Home One. "Control, requesting permission to land", he spoke as clearly as he could through the com scrambling. Moments later, he was directed to land in the main hangar bay. Entering slowly into the hangar, Ryyle engaged his repulsorlifts, and eased to a calm and gentle stop. Several techs moved towards his fighter; One lifts a ladder to the side. Climbing down and nodding towards Fenix, Ryyle seeks out the floor officer.

"I'm Ryyle Xere. I have been asked to report to Home One, but I am unsure where I should be going from here. Could you perhaps enquire as to where I need report?

Wes took a deep breath, and flipped a switch on the comm console. He had to get ready to be the big leader-guy. "Alright people, let's do this. Thirteen, tuck in tight on my starboard wing. Three and Four, take positions behind us. Three flight, get out in front. You'll lead the diversion. Ralla, it's up to you whether you or Twelve leads. We'll come at the port Destroyer from below. Thirteen and I will break off at the bow into the trench, and the rest of you continue on. Three, Four, after Josh and I break, close up the gap with Three Flight. Questions? No? Move into position now. Snap it up, we're going in full throttle."

Throttling back a tad, Wes brought his X-Wing behind Three Flight, with Thirteen tucked in behind him. He smiled. "May the Force be with us."

I place the blame solely on myself, as I didn't put as much umph into it as I should have, and the system I had worked out wasn't very good. Hopefully, I can re-work the kinks, and then give something like this another go in a while. Thank you all who did participate. You made this game very fun for the short time it lasted.
