I would agree that there has to be some kind of statement denoting that the empire is defeated and peace reigns throughout the galaxy. There will be time in later episodes for chaos. that seems most effective to start off the new trilogy...maybe something like this:

"A generation has passed. The empire has at last been defeated And a new Jedi order has been Restored. With the new Republic, Peace and equality now Reigns throughout the galaxy..."

But.....

 

BA-BA-BOOEY, BA-BA-BOOEY!

 

Peace has rained over the galaxy for some time , however an old enemey..........

 

3 decades have passed since the defeat of the Empire and since than the heroes of the Rebel Alliance have all moved on with their lives.

I feel like this new Star Wars should begin somewhat like The Phantom Menace with a relatively confined threat that escalates into something much larger as the movie and the trilogy play out.

 

Hi guys, well I'm pretty new here, though I used to frequent these boards years ago when the Star Wars prequels were hotting up. Such a shame some died a painful death, but this subject on opening crawls had me thinking. See, I've had a story for Episode VII buzzing around in my head for ages. Not going to post it til its ready of course, but as someone pointed out, the opening crawl is so important to the Star Wars Universe. So, if its ok with you guys I'd really like to forward mine, but I thought I should seek some advice first... like, should I or shouldn't I !!

Seriously, I think "Victory!" would be a great way to open it.... Either that or "Peace".

ESB and ANH "It is a" intros are pretty portentous:

"It is a time of civil war"
"It is a dark time for the Rebellion"

So how about:

"It is a time of fragile peace"

 

The first and only lines of the opening crawl should be "Stop that ship - blast them!" and we're plunged straight into the action and blasting of said ship.

 

Or...

"Close the blast doors! Open the blast doors!"
