It is a good piece. Being a liberal publication, they would want to endorse the Coalition but can't due to the ridiculous social conservatism. I don't agree with their conclusion; ideologically I cannot abide Labor's collectivism and their fractured governance is overdue for an end. The party actually, arguably, should go entirely and a new progressive force emerge. Labor's roots to trade unions leave it partially redundant and crippled.

Sadly, I'm voting Coalition. I was at least comfortable, even proud to do so under John Howard.

Time will tell under an Abbott government, but really after six years of total incompetent hacks running government, it is hard to dispute the fact that Howard has become the "gold" standard.

Not one iota. The change in Labor leaders galvinised, not altered, my choice for this election.

Sadly I can't see it happening now with politics shifting towards a cult of personality type contest as it has over the last two decades. You'd need a party with a charismatic and convincing leader, a deep funding base and viable candidates to contest every seat and Senate ballot along with spending a full 3 years campaigning and doing so while taking fire from at least 2 if not more parties.

Nope. Gillard was incompetent as well as grating. Rudd is just incompetent.

So is Abbott, we want Turnbull back. I'd probably vote Liberal if he was leader.

No but Palmer should go to jail for crimes against common sense. Running a country is not like running a corporation.

I said that earlier, secular party. I don't want someone like Tony Abbott on my conscience.

I thought in australia you can't waste your vote since you guys have the preferential voting system.

It feels unnaturally warm for an Election Day. Seems to be more of a cricket-watching day.

In most cases, the preferential voting system causes you to waste your vote.

Well,we have a new PM. I have...mixed feelings about it.

One of the ALP losers said they shouldnt have brought in Rudd, they could have beat Howard in 2007 with Beazley.

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

In a very bizarre way, there's one good piece of news - utter whackjob billionaire Clive Palmer (the Titanic guy) looks like he's getting a seat in Parliament.

Much as I despise him for the mess he created in the A-League while running Gold Coast United, he could be the haemorrhoid the Mad Monk needs and deserves in the Lower House while attempting to actually govern, rather than just get elected.
Mad Clive and his pointless party might only have one seat, but they'll be loud, relentless and annoying. Have fun with that, Tony.
