Dang. Then I need someone to convert the Jedi Starfighter ETA2 from a .max file to a .3ds or .lwo. And yes I need all .max files that are contained in the zip file converted.

I think even for Deep Exploration you need 3ds Max installed on your system to convert .max files.

You're probably right - the only time I've used it was when Max was installed so I'm not sure one way or the other. Sounds perfectly logical though. :)

    Press the Scene Button (F10)
On the far right top line, specify the file path.
On the far right change JPG to MOV
Under the Anim tab, specify the range of frames, then press ANIM.

Hey... i have a few questions on modelling specific things in Blender...

    1. How would i go about modelling the Mortal Kombat Symbol? You know... the dragon pendant. WOuld i have to basically eye it? or is there some way to bring a picture into blender for referance.

    2. Water, i've tried and tried but cant seem to figure out how to make water in blender... I really need it for something i'm working on.

    Thanks

Did you specify a path for the file? It should create a file with the name you specified and the range of frames rendered. Something like render001-0100.mov.

    Water Tutorial

Check these out. There are some fantastic tutorials on this site (water at the bottom).

Open the script in a text window (change the window type to text, File-Open). The window type dropdown is at the bottom left of each window in blender. Then either go File - Run Python Script or Alt-P.

    Hope that helps!

Another question... for making something glow, like a long rectangular object, how would i make it look like a light when rendered? also make it cast light on other parts of the model.

Just telling you guys, if you export in .obj and import to blender the mesh will have hundreds more polys then the original model(that dont do anything), I think for some reason blender subdivides them on import

Hi everyone, Ive been working with blender alot and want to give you blender modelers a little tutorial on lighting

First I suppose your used to the blender interface and know where certain buttons are

1.) Add a few cubes and scale them to look like buildings

2.) Add a plane(this will be the floor

3.) Take your lamp and place the it above the buildings near the middle of the scene

4.) Where on the lamp buttons it says distance, change it to anything from 10.00- 20.00 depending on how bright you want your scene

    5.) Render

6.) Save image as a .jpeg

6.) Your done!, you can always tweak the distance of the lamp and where it is depending on your tastes

    Enjoy!!!!!

Making Objects Reflect and Changing Alpha Values

This took me forever to figure out. It requires raytracing, so renders will take longer (could be significantly depending on the scene).

    1. Select Object to make Reflective/Translucent (Object Mode)
    2. Press SHADING button (F5)
    3. Go to the MIRROR TRANSP tab (middle tab)
    4. For Reflections: Select RAY MIRROR button, and then change RAY MIRROR slider
    5. For Alpha/Translucency: Select RAY TRANSP (middle) and then change the A slider on the MATERIAL tab
    6. Finally, press SCENE button (F10), and select RAY in RENDER tab
    7. Press Render to view results

    - This was from one of my earlier posts in the thread. A lot of these new questions that people are asking are either in the thread already, or their really easy to figure out (Google!). I don't mind increasing my post-count, but really . . .
