Chapter Name Nomination Thread

Well, since it looks like Atlanta will be an official chapter after tomorrow's movie night, I think it's okay to start getting nominations for a chapter name. It can be the standard "Atlanta Force" that so many groups seem to choose, or it can be something unique, like the following:

• Nashville -- Nashville After Darth


• Indianapolis -- Indy Knights: Hoosier Daddy, Luke?


• Queensland -- The Force Guild


• Victoria -- Star Walking


• Western Australia -- Outer Rim


• New South Wales -- Hyperspace


• British Isles -- The Padded Detention Cell


• Montreal & Quebec -- La Base Echo/Echo Base


• Toronto -- Toronto Long Line


• Pittsburgh -- Steel City Jedi Knights: Three Rivers, One Force


• Watertown, SD -- Watertown, South Dagobah System

Since nominations could potentially go on for a while, lets set a cutoff date. How does July 4th at 11:59 p.m. board time sound? Voting could commence immediately following, in the form of a poll. Only ten choices can fit on a poll, so only second the nominations that you REALLY like.

 

A lot of folks are out of town this week, Hama. Can we put this off until next week?

I think the name will work better if we have more folks thinking up things.

This has been a source of much consternation at our get-togethers. I hope folks start getting creative, soon!

Okay... Here are some of the names I posted to the Yahoo Group list. Just in case people aren't checking that list, here are a few I came up with on the fly. We should have a vote setup once we narrow them down.

The Atlanta Rebellion
The Millenium Falcons (since the Falcons are a football team based here)
The New Sith (like the New South)
The Wretched Hive of Scum and Villiany (long name)
Champions of the Force
The Nerf Herders
Too short for a stormtrooper (never mind, we have some 501st guys with us, everyone duck for the blaster fire heading my way)

My nomination goes to Jann's suggestion of "The Damn Fool Idealistic Crusaders". It has everything you could want in a name, seriousness, Star Wars reference, and humor.

Okay...this one made me laugh. But we'd definitely have to be doing some charity work to uphold this name!

 

Yes!! I agree about the Damn Fool Idealistic Crusaders. But try saying that 3 times fast. Guess we would abbreviate to DFIC? Hothlanta Rebels is good too. Sounds like you and I were on the same page GMHP. I came up with Atlanta Rebellion. I like yours better though.

 

Hothlanta is a wonderful contradiction to our usual nickname of "Hotlanta." This one has definite possibilities.

I think we should have a great list of nominees to vote on by next week, maybe?

 

All these possible chapter names are great!

The deadline for posting submissions for the chapter name vote will be this Saturday, July 7th, at midnight.

Once we get all the submissions, we will set up a poll so everyone can vote for their favorite chapter name. We'll post details of the vote by the beginning of next week.

 

Heh, heh... "Hothlanta." Reminds me of North Dakota's attempts to drop the "North" from their state name (so that people don't think of frozen tundra when they hear the name and tourism will take off).
