Collectormania, GMEX - Manchester

I'm looking forward to meeting Tice and Voren again as well as getting to know some new people.

Might be hunting for some costuming advice as I'm currently well on the way to losing some additional poundage and have decided to treat myself to two things when thin: diving lessons (thank you Fatburt) and a Jedi costume.

 

I'm glad your looking at diving it's a great sport.



I however may not be able to make it now due to some things that have occured over the last few days at home which will require my attention.


If things change I'll let you know but for now I'd work on the assumption that I won't be there.

 

I'm still not sure wether to go. Mainly because I always end up looking like some socially defficient moron whilst I'm hanging around with people I don't know. The whole do or don't stay over night thing isn't on my mind yet either, though I'm probs to late for booking that now.

Dude, even if you just come for one day, hang around, visit a few table stores, see a talk or two, maybe even get a signature from someone famous, it's a day out (for £5 entry and a train ticket), you'll get to see a few people into the same hobby as yours, and if at the end of the day you aren't keen on another such meet, at least you have done it and found out what it is like. Don't do yourself down, just come along and see what you think. Heck, I am not very sure of my place in the group dynamics, quite a lot of the main people on here have met quite a few times, they know each other now, I haven't had that opportunity since I am on the NW coast, but I really want to meet them (especially Jace, Chris, Mark, Go-Away and others) so I am going Not sure some people going even think much of me tbh lol (scorpio conspiracy theories abound ), but I am not going for them

So don't drop it yet, have a think, there are a lot of people needing tickets on the door, and the ones who already got theirs will be queing with them anyways. It'll be great for people from the NW to meet up, since FFUK:North is currently more active in the NE (which is troublesome to get to as I am working and the train distances of over 4 hours) and there just isn't enough activity in the NW as yet. So please have a rethink, and don't do yourself an injustice by thinking so negative about yourself

 

If thats the case you will fit in fine! The Northerners that post here arn't worth impressing anyway.

Best start running now pipsqueak! I have some pet Welsh sheep (borrowed) on your scent, and they will do all sorts of unspeakable things to you when they catch you. I am sure you'll enjoy that tho, so I have asked them to shave you of all body hair just so they can feel a bit of revenge.

 

Hey guys - while Lord O, Darkinhere and myself are costuming, we would like to have at least two people to come around with us to act as 'handlers'.

The role would involve ;

- Fan Force flyers to be handed out to promote the boards
- Helping us stop being mauraded by kids who want to play with our lightsabers or use us as punchbags (yes - it happens - brings out the fight in all kids...)
- Help arrange any pics that need to be taken and also take pics of us
- Warning us of any imminent Stormtrooper attacks (the UKG are in attendance too and apparently are looking to 'Jedi Hunt' . However, doubtful if they would have the ability to run in those outfits without the aid of a good tube of Superglue with them to pick up the pieces!)
- Generally helping us move easily around the GMEX without too much hassle

OK - reward for duties - I have made special Fan Force Jedi T Shirts for the 'Handlers'. They look HOT!

Well since I owe you big time for offering to give me a lift there, I guess I'll do it was gonna wear my costume but its being a pain in the backside to complete properly

chris, I do have a costume. its like a mix of EU and original character (basically a rogue squadron pilot but not in orange) was toying with the idea of being Jaina solo if I can get my force FX from home before the weekend. I suppose it looks ok to wear for at least one day. I don't have a camera either otherwise Id take a pic and show you what I mean

 

Lord O - shirts are gonna be a nice suprise for you - no pics here! I might wear one on Wed night...

JP Leigh - thanks for the offer to keep us rabble together! You must wear your costume yourself though! I have a digi camera anyway that I will take so we can just pass it around.

ps. Fast Guy Eddie (he has turned around producing the flyers SO fast!) has knocked up another load of flyers for us!!! Hopefully they should be with us before CM so we will be flyer overloaded for the event!!!

 

Hmmm. You guys what should I do. I have a nice new D.O.O.P costume to wear BUT If you lot are wearing jedi Robes I feel I should wear mine, bearing in mine they are EU.

Although we are wearing Jedi robes, it will just help people understand that the FF boards arent just about SW and that we welcome other areas of Fandom too...from SW to Futurama of course!!!!

Just my opinion....plus its always good to troop in something new!

ps. it may also help confuse the UKG Stormies long enough for us to get out our lightsabers and finish them off!!! (Maybe not, but we can run faster and need the head start...)

 

Hi guys, looks like you are planning a Rebellion or something...!

Big favour, please ask at the info desk before handing out flyers, or find me and ask. One problem we do have is that "event saboteurs" go found handing out flyers for other cons, and crew will aproach you and ask you to stop (we have even had to escort people from the premises in the past). I am sure it will not be a problem, but if you ask before you start you should be fine. we may even have some table space for yu to leave some, f you aks very nicely.

Fine me when you get there and (if I am in a mobile job) I will help you out. (Ask for WaterBoy)

....I just wanted to say in this thread how grateful I am (and you guys will be too!), to Go_Away, Eddie and TimB for their contributions and work towards creating, paying for and printing up around 500 A5 flyers promoting both the FF-UK:N and FF-UK

ps. After all this effort, Paul (Voren), we sincerely hope that we will be allowed to distribute these on a 'small scale' at GMEX please, we dont want to take over the show....just the Internet!

I've just been informed that over 1000 tickets have been pre-sold already, which is a first for the showmasters team. Looks like this one will have an excellent turnout

I should also be able to accomodate some flyers on my stall if you get the go ahead to distribute them.

 

So who am I supposed to be meeting at Piccadilly station (apart from Chris)?
