Ewan and Hugh in The Tourist

    August 8, 2006

Ewan McGregor is set to star opposite Hugh Jackman in Swiss director Marcel Langenegger's "The Tourist." In the script by Mark Bomback ("Constantine"), Patrick Marber ("Closer") and Jason Keller, McGregor portrays Jonathan, an accountant disconnected from life, who is reinvigorated by his new friend Wyatt (Jackman), a powerful and charismatic lawyer who introduces Jonathan to a mysterious sex club known as The List. Shortly after meeting the woman of his dreams, Jonathan becomes the number one suspect in not only the woman's disappearance and possible murder but also a 20 million dollar theft. Production is scheduled to begin October 9 in New York City.

This is what I was afraid would happen with this dumb movie:

Life Imitates Art at 'Snakes' Screening

New Samuel L Jackson film Snakes On A Plane became terrifyingly real for Arizona cinema-goers when pranksters released two live rattlesnakes into the theatre, causing widespread panic. The two young venomous diamondback rattlers were released during a screening in Phoenix on Friday. Local news reports say the snakes caused chaos among the audience and snake wranglers were called in to collect them. No one was injured during the incident and the culprits have not been caught. Officials believe the snakes were smuggled into the theatre in backpacks. According to Phoenix Herpetological Society spokesman Daniel Marchand, "All they've got to do is startle this thing. It's dark. They can't see you that well. If it's scared - boom - it strikes!" The snakes were eventually captured and released into the Arizona desert.

Those snakes weren't actually poisonous, they just are to animals I think, not humans. But in a way, I do think that was a tad bit humorous. ;)

Police Refute Rumors of Snake Cinema Scare

Phoenix, Arizona police have denied reports live rattlesnakes were released in a cinema during a screening of Snakes On A Plane, insisting the claims are a hoax. Local news reports on Tuesday said cinema-goers were terrified when two live venomous rattlesnakes were released at a showing of the Samuel L. Jackson film last Friday. Phoenix police sergeant Joel Tranter admits there is a shred of truth to the story - a 10-inch rattlesnake was found on Friday in a hallway at the movie theatre, but is thought to have slithered there on its own. A security guard swept the snake up outside and trapped it in a plastic container until a member of the Arizona Herpetological Association could haul it away. Snake handlers had also been called to the theatre earlier in the day to retrieve another rattlesnake from outside.

Oh and Scott, rattlesnakes are very poisonous, and Diamond Backs are the worst in North America...

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I see Robert Downey Jr. I think of Charlie Chaplin doing prat (sp?) falls as if he was all drugged up, instead of being funny. I know he has made a recovery and I applaud him for that, but I can't get that image out of my mind. I wish him the best with this, but don't think it was a good choice.

    Speaking of Robert Downey Jr...

He's now going to play Iron Man in the live action movie. Incidentally, Tony Stark (Iron Man) battles with addiction (alchohol) as well. It might be a smart idea to get an addict to play an addict. We'll see...
