    Jason!

    When ya gonna check out Tulsa's FF forums and let us other Council guys know when/how you can post events and other keen info on our FF forum like they do on theirs?!?!?

    LMK!

    Also, what's up with the left border image? Did ours disappear again, or does it just look funny???

    What about the header information in the red bar above the forum topics? Can you do anything with that? That's my biggest concern.

    Just my 2¢, it seems to me that the Tulsa forum kids have enough rights and the capability to add that information...

    Is that just a presumption on my part?

    Either way, thanks for checking into it Nabooty_Call

    Or maybe we're just cooler? [face_mischief] LOL! Kidding. Oh for goodness sakes, put away the light sabers! [face_shocked] :D Our little banner at the top really does do wonders for those of us who forget to mark things on our calendars (me being one of those dim whited folks). I hope you guys get yours running soon and all the wrinkles ironed out. I have to say, everything else looks good. Take care.

    PS-where the heck is that Indiana Jones music coming from?

    Okay, who here is good at java scripts, style sheets, etc ?[face_plain]

    Need to host your set-up online, TF.N will pull the formatting and code info from wherever you have it hosted online.

    Bear with me, I'm very much an IT Padawan :p

    So is that how Tulsa's FF Forum is done?

    I mean, I could look at the source code behind their forum to determine how the additional header lines are generated.

    However, these header lines appear to be integrated in the forum header. One could assume there are settings to allow admins at some level to easily add this information without having to know the code behind it.

    Yep, it's coded by an admin into your forum page's setup/style sheet/technobabble-something.

    Then, since you're hosting the info, you can change the text in your announcement code at any time to reflect updated events.

    I've got a sample template we'll be adapting for use in DFW if anyone wants to take a crack at it, pm me and I'll send it to ya.

    :cool:

    "sheet/technobabble-something" hmmm...that sounded perfectly logical! [face_laugh] I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who uses the word technobabble. :)

    Well, have you guys thought about contacting our FanForce CR? He's really cool, got our board up and running, and knows a thing or two about software and computers. It might make things a little bit easier and quicker. Just an idea.

    I downloaded some sample stylesheets and JavaScript code. Seems pretty easy to modify what we want into the JavaScript. What I don't know how to do is integrate it into our current site, and if stylesheets are something we absolutely need.

    If all you want to do is be able to modify your own board header, with announcements, links, and the like, then you don't need the stylesheet, just the javascript file.

    The file should resemble this:

    /**************************************************************
    * Begin forum customizations. Edit this section as required. *
    * Note that if you want to include any apostrophes in any of *
    * the text, you must escape them using a forward slash like *
    * so: \' *
    **************************************************************/

    forumName = 'JediOKC';

    //The name of the forum as it is to be displayed in PM subjects and in the forum links row

    forumAnnouncementsPosition = 1;
    forumLinksPosition = 1;
    modLinksPosition = 1;

    //Sets the locations that the forum and moderator links will be output.
    //1 = header only, 2 = footer only, 3 = header and footer, 0 = do not show.

    numberOfForumAnnouncements = 1;

    addForumAnnouncement('Announcement text', 'color of announcement, e.g. #FFFFFF');

    numberOfForumLinks = 1;

    //The number of forum links to be displayed

    addForumLink('http://www.fanforce.net','FanForce Main');

    //Builds the forum links.
    //The syntax is: addForumLink('a','b');
    //where a=the URL, b=the link text
    //Add or remove extra lines here as needed.

    useStylesheet = true;

    //Use the mod stylesheet? True = yes, False = no. If false, the mod usernames will be
    //displayed as ordinary links. If true, you will need a
    //separate stylesheet for the colors of the PM links

    contactwho= 'The title for your group of officers, such as Council or simply Officers';

    //who the PM links will lead to.

    numberOfForumMods = 1;

    //The number of mods for this forum

    addMod('Officer/CR's Username',his/her UserID#,'his/her title, e.g. Chapter Rep, Council Member, Treasurer, etc.);

    //Builds the mod PM links.
    //The syntax is: addMod('a',b,'c');
    //where a=the mod's username, b=the mod's user ID, c=the mod's title.
    //Add or remove extra lines here as needed.

    /**************************************************************
    * End forum customizations. Do not edit anything below here. *
    **************************************************************/

    outputForumHeaderFooter(forumName);

    //Begin outputting the forum header.
    //Do not remove or edit this line.

    Then ask a mod to replace the hiarchy table in your board header with something like this:

    <!-- hiarchy table start -->
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="4">
    <tr>
    <td class="MainMenuRow">
    <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript" src="URL OF YOUR JAVASCRIPT FILE HERE">
    </script>
    <a class="MainMenuLink" href="/">Jedi Council Forums</a> &raquo;
    <a class="MainMenuLink" href="/default.asp?cat=10044"> FanForce USA - MidSouth</a> &raquo;
    <a class="MainMenuLink" href="/board.asp?brd=10136"> Oklahoma City, OK</a> &raquo; </td>
    </tr>
    <!-- hiarchy table end -->

    So, how goes the conversion? If you need some more help, let me know. I went through most of the problems someone can have when I set ours up.
