News of the weird...

1. A few days back Prince's lawyers send cease & desist letters to 3 Prince fansites (prince.org, PrinceFams, and Housequake), asking photos of Prince, his lyrics etc be removed due to copyright infringement.

2. The 3 sites band together to make protest site "Prince Fans United" or "PFU" http://www.princefansunited.com

3. Prince contacts fan sites "PFU has been contacted by Prince's Management and we are currently in discussions. We are hopeful that an amicable resolution can be reached wherein all can co-exist peacefully on the internet."

4. Prince creates a ?response? song "PFUnk". He says he wants them to host the song on their protest site.

5. Without warning or giving the promised song to PFU, Prince registers a knock-off domain http://www.princefamsunited.com and puts the song there instead.



And it's the best song Prince has recorded in years! LOL.

New album out today, mostly via free giveaways in newspapers. Unsurprisingly, the mirror who is giving it away says it's his best album in 23 years;

Does anybody have any comments on Prince's the Internet is 'over' statement?


Seems pretty self-defeating for somebody who was probably the first really big music artist to use the Internet as a distribution & promotions tool...

 

It's incredibly ironic that Prince annouces the Internet is dead...on the Internet.

Prince has been weird his entire career. The fact he went by that unpronouncable symbol for so long is evidence to me that there's at least a few anti-depressant prescriptions in his medicine cabinet.
