    Hello earlybird-obi-wan, and welcome to Fan Art! I went to the first site and checked out some of your work--I love the paintings (I can't do paint of any sort, so really respect those who can!): they all have a very "atmospheric" feel to them, very soft-focus (though that might also be my own monitor...). Lovely work! You might get a few more views if you post up thumbnails or links to each individual piece, though--like this:

    Obi Wan Portrait

    --which is typed out this way: --your description here--

    --or a thumbnail, like this:

    [image=http://www.heartstars.net/sw/obi.bmp]

    --which is typed out like this: [image=imageURL] (Fantastic portrait, btw!)

    Your work is lovely, and I hope to see more here soon! Welcome!

    they are made by my GSM from my original oil-paintings on hardboard, some of them are quite big 40 by 50 cm.

    Ah! There we go! =D= Well done!

    I wanted to drop in again because I forgot to mention how much I like the environments you put the characters in: the landscapes and surroundings are wonderful, with beautiful colors and very nice compositions (the one of Obi-Wan and Sabe near the stream is especially lovely!). I also very much liked the tenderness of the "Obi-Wan Sleeping" piece: I always imagined that Qui-Gonn loved him like a son, and this is a lovely illustration of just that!

    Lovely paintings, all, and we'll look forward to seeing more!

    Very nice work. I was intrigued by the painting of Qui-Gon sitting on that short wall with Obi-Wan by his side. Did you use a reference photo for the background? I was just wondering because that looks very much like the view of the Hudson River as seen from Trophy Point at West Point, NY. I always loved that view. Click here to see

    Anyway, I love your paintings.

    I love these! They remind me of really ancient paintings from the crusade era, which is a really cool stylistic choice for star wars. It would seem counter-intuitive because of all the high tech, but when you think about it, star wars is about myth. A LONG time ago. So this really fits well in my mind.Great job!

    All reviewers, thanks [:D] and as soon as I have my site on line more pictures will follow in a better quality than these which are taken by my GSM. Backgrounds from the pictures are from vacations I took to the USA, a picture in a Star-Wars magazine of Naboo and a picture in a magazine "ANWB Kampioen" of the Sauerland in autumn.

    More pretty paintings! Your technique really is lovely--wonderful attention to the backgrounds (which is something I struggle with a lot! ;) ). I'm especially fond of the ones you did with Obi Wan and your original characters (OCs)--the old man is done particularly well! Allow me to make one suggestion: in the pieces done with "lightsabers ignited," you may want to show some highlighting on the figures that would emmante from the blades--some subtle splashes of light on the faces, forearms and hands would "illuminate" the weapons a bit more. It's a hard thing, to show an ignited lightsaber in media like this--I "wing it" myself with the graphite...though it isn't always very effective... It's just a suggestion--I wouldn't change the completed works now, but keep the idea in mind and perhaps experiment with it a bit on some practice-work. And if you choose not to do it--it won't detract from the beauty of your paintings: they have lovely, soft, almost medieval feel to them, and stand well as they are! Lovely!

    Again, earlybird-obi-wan--some lovely paintings! I can't get over the soft feel to each of these--Aaqu and Dunai Elder are most especially lovely: the flow of the fabric and the drapery are beautiful. Wonderful additions!

    More beautiful paintings (**is so jealous of your talent with oils!** :D )!! All of these are certainly in keeping with your previous work: lovely use of light and landscape to frame the characters, and wonderful work with atmosphere in each. I especially love the "father and son" piece, with Obi Wan and Qui-Gon...so tender--and the "autumn" one, with the gorgeous colors of the fall foliage. All are wonderful (fantastic renderings of horses, too!), and I'll never get tired of looking at these! Very nice additions!

    I'm so impressed that you use such care in creating your fanart--I don't think I could paint something like this if my life depended on it, much less just because I wanted to! ;) Wonderful! The Obi/Ani piece is looking great so far--the likenesses are very close, though almost more pretty than either of them is in real life! ;) Great light in it, too--and I like their expresssions. Keep it coming!

    "Kaaqi and Aranella" is very nice--is this colored pencils, or also with oils on canvas? He looks very much like Qui-Gon... The Anakin/Obi-Wan WIP is coming along nicely--I really like the intensity of their expressions. If you're interested at all, I can suggest a grand tutorial for drawing hands (in some of your work, the hands are a bit out of proportion with the rest of the figure)--it's very straightforward, and is something I use myself for "inventing" hands. I'd be happy to share the link to the online site if you want it! Keep up the good work!
