Well the title has been posted on the official website, along with a very brief story line.

My comment on what I think of this title can best be expressed by :_|

Well...as much as 'm dissapointed because of the lack of imagination, it'll grow on me, eventually. We had to adjust to "The Phantom Menace" just the same but it had more mystery. This one gives it pretty much all away.

I was expecting something along the lines of:

    Dark Force Rising

    Oh well....GL has spoken. :(

I'm getting visions of 1970's sci-fi, Attack from mars, Attack of the killer tomatoes, attack of the dead. Oh Dear, I hope I adjust to the name by May next year.

    i am not sure
when i read the new title i was like ok i wasn't expecting that
i was expecting something a bit more powerful
no doubt there will be endless discussion on the title

    i like your dark rising
    maybe something like
    "the revelation of the sith"
    "the start of the empire"
    "shadow of an empire"
    "The shadow of the sith"
    "the dawn of vader/empire"
"the dawn of the clones war"

not really that sure but just was expecting something else

Just read SWNZ post so i thought i would edit a bit
you hit the nail on the head all those other forms of comedy sci fi spring to mind when you hear the name

Wow! I just thought I'd log on while I ate my breakfast, and find Ep2 has a name!!! And I've got to catch a bus in ten minutes!

I think the title is okay, but it sounds like I'm the only one. I agree with what they said here on the official site:

It harkens back to the sense of pure fun, imagination and excitement that characterized the classic movie serials and pulp space fantasy adventures that inspired the Star Wars saga.

It's kind of corny, much like 'The Empire Strikes Back'.

Does this mean the clones are the bad guys? Or just a little aggressive?

I don't know if anyone else here reads the Usenet Newsgroups, but there's LOTS of "discussion" there about the title and The Force.net has THREE polls running on this title.

Looks like a big majority dislike this title.

    :(

I don't think we can bring ourselves to typing it too much yet, I've had to say it and type at least 20 times today already.

George Lucas must have been high or something when he thought of that.

Actually I wouldn't be suprised if one of his daughters came up with the name. He consults them on quite a lot of stuff.

i don't think it has that classic ring to it as the other do
but hoping it will grow on me by the time it is released

Ah, back home. I said I thought it was okay before, but now I think I love it! I've been chuckling to myself about it all day, while my friends look at me like I'm crazy.

It's so cool! So cheesy . . . and from what I've heard the movie is quite dark, so there's going to be a bit of irony there . . .

I'd imagine they'd have thought up the title in a meeting . . . you could imagine someone suggesting it as a joke, and everyone laughing, then suddenly George says "I think I like it".

One of the reasons why Star Wars is so popular, is the fact that it's timeless. And the reason it's timeless, is because it doesn't take itself to seriously! That's why I love the new title . . .

Well, The Force.net's poll currently stands at ...

    10.67% Love It (792 votes)
    20.61% Like It (1530 votes)
    30.39% Don't Like It (2256 votes)
    32.49% Hate It (2412 votes)
    5.83% No Opinion (433 votes)

    (Total Votes: 7423 )

That's gone down a bit from this morning, but it's still not far off two-thirds saying they don't like it.

If you put yourself back into the 70's when it quite well could have been made (if GL had started from #1) then Attack of the Clones would have been quite acceptable. I still like it, even more than my last post.

BTW I think I just said it [face_blush]

It seem star wars fans get more cynical by the day, so much criticism over something as trivial as this.

I like the thought of the non-fans that will think "what the...?" when they hear it.

I like it. I beleive if youre a true fan, it doesn't matter what the title is. it will be Star Wars, which means it will be pretty darned cool.
