I'm openning the topic for discussion since we just went into November. *cues festive music*

What would people like to see?
-I thought if we wanted to just go for a dinner party I could make reservations at the Honey Court.
(Mmmm... honey walnut prawns [face_love] )
-if we wanted it at someone's house, Paul has volunteered his place--maybe have a potluck?
-Amy suggested a gift exchange game.
-Sheridan and I thought it would be fun to make it a 'get dressed up' thing.

    Discuss. :)

well, could have it at my house, dress up, exchange gifts, and bring an order of honey walnut prawns from the Honey Court!!! ..and potluck. the only thing about a restaurant is you never know if you have last min people etc...

Don't forget a side dish of Cheetoes with those prawns [face_laugh]

...but seriously, this sounds like a great idea. What kind of time frame are we looking at...a few days before Christmas, a week before? Also when talking about dressing up, are we talking about formal, semi-formal, casual, toga LOL, Star Warsy, birthday suits [face_blush]

One advantage to a place over a restaurant is space, the come and go factor, PARKING, doing the gift thing, not having to really need a headcount before hand or reservations for an undisclosed amount of people, random ewok encounters, etc.. and someone can always see about gettin an order of the Prawns :p

Mos Everett has an Anual "Life Day" Party (usually held on New years) - Why not make it a regional Life Day Party, Pot Luck semi formal gift exchangy thing?

Can I ask a favor for the diet restricted? Lable your dishes, please!

Not just for us non-meat eaters (note that chicken/beef stock counts as 'meat') but some people might have food alergies, and it's no fun asking about everything!

PS - SOMEBODY has got to have a copy of the infamous "Holiday Special" [face_laugh]

That is pretty cool. Maybe we can swing both then--a dinner at the Honey Court for Christmas AND a New Years-y party. Thoughts? :)

I'd like to go to a restaurant for our party. If we're just having a potluck, I don't want to get super dressed up like we'd hoped. I'd be more comfortable in just jeans then. Besides, I've never been to (ok, heard of) this Honey Court place.

I think we should make both Life Day and Festivus as official US Holidays :)

Yeah, I kind of like the idea of a formalish / dress-up-ish dinner at a restaurant thing, with an inexpensive (<= $10) gift exchange.

I'm also planning to have a little Festivus Party at my place for around the holiday season, for all those displaced Christmas orphans, people who don't celebrate any of the other major holidays, or those who just want to Air some Grievances. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, ping me offline :)

So, back to the talk on our 'non-denominational winter holiday party.' :p

How about a dressy dinner at the Honey Court Mid-December then have a New Years/Life Day party at Paul's place?
