Mass Group Chat.

Hi everyone,

Just posting about the idea of having a group chat before Super Megafest.

So any questions you may have about this upcoming event we can answer or get the answers.

What is a good time and day for everyone to join in a chat room for a discussion?

Please post your day(s) and times you are available.

Also could use some recommendations on a good chat room to use.

Wednesday nights are usually good for me... after 9 when the kids are in bed.

I have used the Yahoo chats before and they work pretty well.

 

I am usually available any night after 9pm....
Yahoo chat seems to be the best....

chatzy.com is a GREAT free chatroom site. I could create a room for us there in less than a minute, it's so easy!

 

I will do the yahell chat I use messenger alot so that is pretty easy to get done. just need to know which room to go to.

 

I'm an IRC veteran if you want to go that route. If not, I have Yahoo Messenger, though I thought they closed the user rooms.

 

So let's pick a date for this chat now that Hallowwen's over and this event is 3 weeks away.

I'm generally good any night other than a Wednesday (bowling) or a Friday (possible shopping the next day).

What I don't know is where and how to hook up with everyone. I am on Yahoo as my screen name and I know that we can all meet in Yahoo but, I don't have anyone else's ids to invite to join a conversation... much less know exactly how to do it.

Who's on board?

 

I could pop in sometime after 9:30 PM next Wednesday. I believe my Yahoo ID is in my profile (Wifey has it, anyway, if I remember).

Wifey, if you want to do it in Yahoo Messenger, the dialog you need to call up can be found from Actions, Invite to Conference (at least w/ version 9)

Korey, I tried to reply to your PM last night, but then my computer froze.

Rest assured, we won't need Yahoo.

No one here is using an older Mac OS, right? Around 9.0? Then we would have a problem. Otherwise, we're fine!

I created a password just for the heck of it. It's "starwarsma".

What you do is type in any username in the "Your name/alias" box. We should probably use our first names.

Then, you choose a color. This is just for fun (although if everyone is red, for example, it can get confusing, so to have everyone be a different color would be good).

Finally, enter the password and select "Enter Room". The chatroom box will appear. BE SURE TO CLICK ON "JOIN CHAT" AT THE BOTTOM, NOT "WRITE MESSAGE". Writing a message is to create a temporary notice. Joining the chat is, well, joining the chat.

After you join the chat, a text box should appear at the bottom of the chat box. Simply type what you want to say and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Hopefully, this will work for everyone.

NOTE: To change your color or name, click on the "My Preferences" tab on the side, and to leave the room, type "/leave".

 

Hi Brian... I know today is Monday... I was referring to the fact that the chat is scheduled for Wednesday. Sorry for the confusion.

I could probably join everyone between 9:30 and 10:00...I'll be busy doing my computer bowling stuff (both online stuff and my offline log), but will keep an eye on the room and provide input where appropriate.
