    Evening, Meri! [:D]

    [Sidious]You will not stop me![/Sidious] [face_devil] [face_skull] [face_devil] [face_skull] [face_devil]

I drove home this evening from doing the shopping to find my front door covered in crazy foam! Charming. o_O

You should see the sign I put in my front window...It seems to have done the trick! Not one chav has come around since I put it up. I promise, it's polite...mostly. [face_whistling]

no, it used to be fun. me and my mates would make the effort get dressed up and have fun. But all you get now is teenagers in hoodies who think putting a mask on makes a costume.

Trust me, we get alot of that here as well. Infact you don't see many people take their kids door to door anymore. Most people go to parties or bars now, except me. :(

Now I have a battle with the school board since my son's school was the ONLY school in town to not allow a Halloween celebration. They had a "Harvest" celebration instead with jack o lanterns all over the place. [face_frustrated] I was told because someone whined about Halloween being "pagan". When someone can show me how dressing up as a fictional character and getting free candy has anything to do with paganism, I'll let it slide. Until then I have some heads at the school to rip off...

That's the hippie side of Halloween. What is everyone concerned about on Halloween? Costumes and candy. That's all.

Yes, i'm the guy in the Anakin costume who forgot to put a scar on his eye until we were heading out the door.

The other two are my friends Ryan (Maul) and Gavin (Obi-Wan). Gavin has posted once or twice here under the name Darth_Gavinus (I think?), but Ryan hasn't posted at all.

Guess the forums take a certain commitment and lack of a personal life. Or at least they do in my case. ;)

The background is from a pub in Bedford called "The Smelly Yokel".

    Seriosuly..... o_O

some of you should be lined up and shot. it actually suprises me that the americans (who invented the whole trick or treat) actually hold more respect for what the day is actually about than a lot of british.british have changed halloween from a day of a remberance into a day of vandelism.

    Shame on you people

p.s. no offense to the americans if this might sound like i am having a go at you inteligence because i am not.

Yeah, and that happens to me my birthday. Coincidence? [face_thinking]

A belated Happy Halloween and Samhain to whomever subscribes to what.

BTW, Catholics celebrate "All Saints Day" on the 1st. The ancient tradition was to dress up and wear a mask of a saint. In the sixth century, Pope Boniface IV proclaimed May 13, 610, Feast of All Holy Martyrs held in Rome to honor all martyrs not listed in local records. In 835, Pope Gregory IV changed the date and name to November 1 and Feast of All Saints. ;)

Oh, and Pagans are pretty flucking far from being hippies. Pagans rock!

    I HATE HIPPIES!

There is a difference, not much of a difference these days really. The names of the deities are different and the religions themselves come from different parts of Europe.

I tend to think you can switch one word for another really these days.

    ;)

So they basically believe in the same stuff and the same rituals?

Obviously they needed different names to prevent themselves being sued for name copying :p
