I'm new around here (though I had a login from years back, apparently...)

I'm sure there are at least some of you familiar with me, I was first in line in Provo for the prequels... (Phantom Menace for 30 days at the Wynnsong, 21 for AOTC and just three (wtf people?) for Revenge of the Sith...)

I figured I'd try to drop by here now and again...

I cover Star Wars for the Examiner (http://www.examiner.com/x-2730-Star-Wars-Examiner), I am the editor of Big Shiny Robot! (www.bighinyrobot.com) and when I'm not writing about my socialist leaning politics on the Huffington Post, I write about geeky stuff there, too... (www.huffingtonpost.com/bryan-young)...

So, I figured I'd stop by and say hello to the hometown people who are into Star Wars...

I know some of you were in the 501st... and although I don't costume, Albin Johnson is making me an official friend of the legion at Dragon*Con... so, that's cool I guess...

I guess all I'm trying to say is hello. What's up?

    Hi and welcome!

There was a separate Salt Lake FanForce, but they got... discontinued? (hopefully not deleted?) to lack of activity. We don't fare much better here and we have even less members. ;) But it's always good to see a new face! I didn't go to the midnight showing for any of the prequels, but I know others here have.

So is Provo/SLC your hometown or do you currently live here? :)

I went to midnight of 1 and 3, but one was in Boston and the other in Orem. I'm Ish, I go by Ish, it's not my real name, but more memorable than Kathryn. I have been around for a while and my one claim to fame is being the person who writes Pink 5 fanfic. So, you've got a cooler resume. :p

I work in SLC and I live in Orem...

So, I'm still all local and stuff.

Oh... And maybe you guys might be interested in the fan film I did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W0tM3z9u5M (We shot it out near Delta...)

You'd be welcome whether you still lived in the area or not, but call it idle curiosity. :)

I'll admit I've never heard of the Geekshow. What is it?

The Geek Show used to run on X96 (hosted by RFH's Kerry Jackson) but now it's a podcast... www.thegeekshowpodcast.com

I film it actually, it's on Comcast On Demand's Utah On Demand and am on the show pretty regularly.

We do a "geek movie night" the last sunday of every month at Brewvies in Salt Lake... where it's a free double feature of geek movies. We kicked the first one off about a year ago with The Wrath of Kahn and the Empire Strikes Back... Mainly it's a place to hang out and drink with 300 other geeks from the area. I think there's a bowling night coming up, too...

And about 8 of us went to the con together...

300 self-admitted geeks? In Utah? No way. ;) (Don't mind my cynicism; I find people often will admit to liking SW or HP or Twilight or LotR or all of the above and more, but will refuse to say they're an SF fan.)

That all sounds like a lot of fun. :) Which con did you go to?

San Diego, the one that just ended...

    THE con....

But I'm going to Dragon*Con, too... though I'm not sure why. I mean, I know why, but I'm a little conned out. One in a year is enough. Unless it's a Celebration. Those are the best.

I figured you might've meant Comic Con, but thought it safest to ask. :)

I love travelling and love cons, but cons do tend to wear you out a bit more than other trips do. Been trying to go to Comic Con and Dragon*Con for years... someday!

I haven't decided if I'm looking forward to Dragon*Con or dreading it yet...

I've booked interviews with Timothy Zahn and Michael Stackpole so far, though... So, I'm excited about that.

Welcome! Im around the boards here every so often. I will be here a bit, then disappear for a while then come back. I think I am the only 501st member that still is somewhat active in this fanforce group. Used to be more. I went to comic con for the first time this year and it was awesome. Look forward to the next celebration cuz I imagine it will only be so much cooler!!!

Anyway, glad to have you around. I may have to look into some of those thing you mentioned. And a movie night with 300 fellow geeks.....could be cool
