EA Confirms Limited Number at launch.

I think I should get on pre-ordering after reading this article. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Allow me to share my feelings: that blows.



Seriously, I loathe that kind of phony sales tactic.
Especially with direct downloads and pre-sales.

I think it is more of a case to limit server crashes. This isn't the first game to do this, I can't remember the name of the other one. But in that sense, I don't think any of us want the server to crash when we all log on at the same time.

 

Limited servers I believe as well... They don't have nearly the cappacity for all the people who want to play... exspecially those first few weeks...

 

For a hundred and sixty bucks a pop, maybe they should....

 

I don't mind. I'll wait a month or two after release to pick up the game. Too much chaos on release day, and I'll have prior commitments, so maybe the game will be a little cheaper. Or maybe I'll just wait till it drops. I'd prefer the $50 than the $60 like every other MMO. Too expensive plus the $15 subscription.

 

And how interesting how 600.000 preorders vanished over night, right? Suddenly we got 400.000 preorders? they were talking about a million last week! So TOR was preordered less than Battlefield or Call of Duty?

 

Those games had a defined release date though. I'm not one of them, but some fans seem like they're starting to think of this in DukeNukemForever terms.

 

I had forgotten about this game up until like 3-4 weeks ago... it's been in development so looooong!

Considering this news, I may just go preorder it.

May I point out the existence of PR?

Seriously, you remember the news the codes in boxes over Europe were seeling out? Soon probably only online preorder would be possible? I think that´s what they call a joke (the word lie sounds so evil), because here in Hamburg the pre-order boxes got send back to the providers, because they sell like ten of them and have 5000 lying around in our games markets. The same here. How shall it be possible to have unlimited numbers of CD pressed? Not even air is unlimited? Of course they press a certain amount and not more. And I think that´s it. Them concerned about their servers and stuff . . . ? Oh, c´mon it isn´t as if no MMO was ever released before. Servers and player numbers have become a science. And I think this kinda stuff is becoming a problem. They do every trick in the PR book - even the old ones - to sell this game. They really must have spend a lot of money.

 

Does anyone know if the Ultimate collectors edition is for the pre-order or will it be available after the wide release?

 

I'm pretty sure it's available, but don't take my word for it.
