[Music help] So, I'm making a picture slideshow for my great-grandma's funeral...

... and I need ideas for music behind it. My great-grandma passed away yesterday, so my cousin and I are doing the powerpoint. I want to use music that is more reflective of her era than mine. She was born in 1914, so the older the music, the better. And keep in mind, it's for a funeral.

Any ideas?

 

Miana (hugs) I am so sorry. It seems like we've been hit with more than our share of losses over here.

As for music, about the time she was a teenager (if I remember right) it should be the era of Jazz and Blues. So that might give you a start. (There is some georgous soft jazz out there)

I don't know much about the 1910-1920 era..but a good song to put into it might be the new(er) version of "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" by the Hawaiian man who passed away not long after it's release.

Right now I have completely blanked on his name, but I know the singer and song your talking about. It was accompanied by a Ukaleli (sp)...hauntingly beautiful. The world lost an incredible voice when he passed.

Well, my aunt just informed me that it's not going to be some big dedication thing like I thought she wanted; it's just a slideshow of pictures to play before and after the service while people are coming in and going out.

 

Iz's music is very comforting, it might still work.

And sorry for your loss, it has been a tough year for many of us in so many ways.

Maybe those may not bring comfort, but might stir up emotions, not what you want. In the meantime, I'll keep looking through my collection and let you know if I find anything.

Oddly the best thing for me when I feel the loss of another is to watch some episodes of Six Feet Under. It helps in two ways: 1.) It talks plainly about death and how the living deal and learn to cope with it and 2.) I don't feel so bad, because I'm nowhere near as screwed up as the fictional people in the show are. *weak grin*
