In order to clarify some of the forums' relationships, the moderators discussed the idea of changing some names and swapping some forum locations, and have decided to make a few key changes.

    The following changes were made:
    • Renamed "Movies" category to "The Star Wars Films"
    • Renamed "The Expanded Universe" category to "Beyond the Films: The Expanded Universe"
    • Renamed "Expanded Universe Community" forum to "Expanded Universe Miscellaneous"
    • Re-ordered some of the forums in both of those categories.
    • Moved "Communications" forum into "Administration" category.
    • Re-ordered some of the forums in the Administration category.
    • Moved "Collecting" forum into the "Fan Activities" category

We hope that these changes make the forums easier to navigate for newer users. We apologize to those who may have to get used to the changes, but we feel that these are for the best.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please leave a note here!

    Thanks,

    Vertical

I thought it was very interesting that you guys chose to move Your Jedi Council Community into the newly created "Hogwash" category. Interesting...

    :p

    AYBABTU?

AHA! That explains the shuffling of the order in my favourite boards list. I knew you kooky mods were up to no good ;)

So nothing will be changing about the way these boards are run? Just so we are all clear, its all purely cosmetic, right?

There may be some changes coming involving Defense Forces, clubs, and whatnot, but I'm not sure we've reached any decisions on that front yet.

    It's better like this, Vert.

Now if you could only merge Announcements and Communications, as I pleaded earlier... [face_mischief]

Well, we could move Announcements into Administration, but I don't think we could merge the two forums.

I think that moving Announcements to the same catagory as Communications would be a good idea. I think that it would make it easier to locate for everyone.

Well, if we see enough support for that idea in here, and if the mods can agree with the logic (seems to work for me), we can do that.

I love this, but I have one thing. One section is called "Beyond the films: The Expanded Universe". SHouldn't it all be capitals at the start of the words?

I find it strange that Communications is in the Admin category, but I'll get over it.

The logic behind that one is that it is a 'suggestions' forum, mostly, or a 'FAQ' forum. It's basically a forum for the members to directly communicate with the Administration about ... administrative issues.

Something for the EU Forum admins to consider.

    1. Instead of EUCommunity becoming EUMisc. How about leaving EUCommunity as EUCommunity. I think whether one likes Community forums or not, they seem to serve some positive service. Keep a pure Community forum somewhere in the EU forums structure. That is, change EUMisc back to EUCommunity.

    2. Modify EULit. to EUMain. EULit. in practice has never been about EULit. anyway - it's always had a larger scope. It seems that with the whole way it's all related, that it would be good to have a place where it can be discussed all related regardless of whether it's lit, games, role-playing games, CCG, digital information, toys, etc.

    3. Going with (2) - the Author & Artist forums can become the Lit. forums.

    Something to consider? ?[face_plain]

The logic behind the switch from EUC to EUMisc was so that it would match up with the "Star Wars Films" counterpart - SWMisc.

The two trees should be a general reflection of each other, with both having "misc" forums for socializing, fan clubs, whatever.

The name change doesn't reflect a content change, just a representation of it's relationship to the other forums on the boards.

Misc. is still a Community board, in both the EU and the SW categories.

Collecting is now located in the Fan Activites category.

Thought Vert covered that. I'll edit the first post.

Some interest has been expressed in adding a "Debo's Forum." I believe it would go in the "JC Community" category.
