Happy Rosh Hashannah everybody! I think I'm going to run arouhnd the house blowing a shoffar just to annoy people. The only problem with that is my dog doesn't like the noise and tends to go into atack mode when she hears it. I guess it's too loud for her.

A shoffar is a hollowed out ram's horn. It's used like a trumpet. It's loud as hell if you know how to use it correctly. They come in a range of lengths. The one I have is about 1 foot long, but I've seen ones close to three feet. The larger the shoffar, the deeper the noise. I think they were also blown during battles but I'm not sure.

    The horn of Gondor! :p

Yeah they were. The Jewish folk were also fond of "the ban" . That is- they would destroy EVERYTHING in the town or whatever that they attacked; men, women, children, animals, houses, and everything else. They thought it was religous somehow...actually it was that they thought they were sacraficing the entire town/city to god.

I have a better question... How can people STILL be talking about lord of the rings when AotC was a far superior movie.

How do you know that's not true? Calling me a liar? By calling me a liar your calling my theology teachers liars. I know I'm right. Look it up. It's just a primitive warfare tactic. They would utterly destroy everything, the men, women, and children. I'm not sure whether they would take the spoils of the city and then burn the city or if they would just take the city and leave it alone. But I'm pretty sure they would destroy the city perty much. The Ban was done away with later because some dude...I forget his name said (and I'm paraphrasing) "...instead of "devoting"(devoting to god by destroying it) the city to god, devote(just plain devote this time) yourselves to god."
    so there ya have it...

Heh, sorry to have started controversy!

TK7771, yep, I make costumes. I actually have *not* made any Star Wars costumes as of yet. I had planned to make one of Padame's Senate gowns this year as well as finally getting my Mara Jade outfit together for DragonCon... but my Moulin Rouge costume swallowed ALL of my time. :p

But, I researching the costumes as we speak. ;)
