TrainingforUtopia, would you have any problem with me posting satanic messages and pictures in my signature and profile, and at the end of every message? I actually know the guy (friend of a friend) who runs antichrist.com, and the guy is pretty scary. I bet I can get some cool stuff.

TF.n is not required to allow discussion on anything outside of Star Wars but they do. All we're trying to do with this policy is prevent unnecessary problems and provide a better environment for talking about Star Wars. If you want to turn this into some kind of misguided crusade against a regime that's trying to repress you and your religion then that's your point of view. I'm sure most of the members here can see through that. There are a million forums on the net where you can further your religious agenda. This is no longer one of them.

And when the hell did people begin thinking this was a democracy, anyways? TF.N is a private business, located in (I assume) the United States, and as such, they can pretty much do whatever the hell they want with their service.

Heck, they could turn it into a hardcore donkey pornography website with some Star Wars news mixed in if they wanted to. But they don't. So quityerbitchin.

Okay, let's take look at our "new and improved" JCC!:

"If you go to Canada, you will die."

    "The *NEW* JC Bachelor Auction!"

"So I just ran over a snake with the lawnmower by accident..."

"Arghh....ever gotten poisen ivy in a...really uncomfortable place?"

    "The JC Bachelorette Auction"

[sarcasm]Wow. Glad to see the JCC is now completely free of all that usless intellectual drivel.[/sarcasm]

I could present more great threads, but I stopped at the first page. [face_plain]

I don't like to think that way. "This isn't a democracy" is a phrase I hated to hear from admins ever since I came here. Like the new sock policy, the banning of religious topics would not have been reinstated if there weren't real issues brought up by members or if we didn't think it would be accepted by the members. Yes the admins have the final say on policy but we don't just make up rules knowing the majority of members won't support it.

TrainingForUtopia, no one said this policy would increase the intelligence level around here, only that it would avoid the kind of conflicts that religious topics bring about.

I want to know how someone who can be so presumptuous to tell someone that others must follow their religion is criticizing banter posted on a Star Wars forum.

Ok, that's enough. This is a thread for questions about the policy. I won't have it turn into another religious debate that I'll have to close and then re-type all that stuff again.

Ironically, I think we can settle this with a quote from the Good Book:

I Peter 2:13 "Submit yourself to every ordinance of man . . . to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors."

Governors sounds a lot like moderators, doesn't it?

[sarcasm]Yes, as we all know, through history, all acts of hate were done for religous reasons.[/sarcasm]

Let's not forget the Social Darwinistic motives of the Holocaust.

Oh, and yes, you are absolutely right. We as Christians are supposed to obey the authorities put in place here on Earth as well, but when the two authorities are in contradiction, we are supposed to follow God's authority, which is to spread the gospel to as many people as possible.

So the mods ban religious topics at random intervals, just to keep us on our toes. No big deal.

[note:I am too tired to post a serious reply, so I settled for a funny one. I will be back to express my opinion on the matter tomorrow]

It's not random. I honestly don't know when the policy was removed but it was a mistake.

Please no more religious discussion in this thread. I get the irony, ok?

The next person to post a religious post in this thread will be banned. I'm a tyrant now, happy? :p

Bob and Training, please stop posting to this thread. It's getting tiresome, it's a religious discussion, and it's off-topic (well, mostly...). You both have made up your mind about your position, and are just engaging for the sake of confrontation. Let it go, please.

I'm sorry to see this policy enacted, but I certainly see the reasoning behind it. It's a shame people can't be adults about such things...the one thread deemed most likely to degenerate into a flame war ('religion is dangerous') stayed pretty even-keeled.

So, AJA, is there any other type of discussion you would like banned from the JCC?
