darthviper107: Mean? Perhaps you didn't catch the ;) at the end of my message... It's a humour thing... Maybe it's just too much of an Aussie humour thing...

    So let me reiterate:

    This ship rocks!

    Kudos, Lots... Kudos!

p.s. - No really... where did you find that plugin...

    hah

    thanks :p

yeah texturing will be fun.. as for updates.. its been kinda lacking recently since windows decided it didnt want to work anymore... luckily i had linux installed and working.. i copied over some config files from my windows drive.. all my work on this ship (and in fact all my work ever) is all stored across 4 other hard drives.. so its quite safe :) ill be up and running again probably by the weekend when i can reinstall windows.

i think there are a few more details to add. Gun turrets, buttom detailing under the main weapon and the inner sides of the middle anyway after all that detail i should be ready to texture :p that'll be fun :)

Hi just dropped in from the fan art forums.

The latest render looks capital and it looks geonosian.

Hey they are rumoured to have been building the second death star over endor ( hands on when it blew ).

Keep it up your stuff is goooood!

Sorry for the lack of updates.. Turns out my hard drive had crashed and i didnt get a new one installed until a few days ago.. But good news is it's in and my upgrade for lightwave came in the mail the other day ;)

So now i'll be going back to getting this ship done, really only thing left now is the under side. but since i've got a new version of lightwave.. im more or less playing with all the new features, but i've got some new pics to show of the ship (the beginnings of working on my own lighting rig..)

And the beginnings of one of the larger turrets.. ill probably end up with a variety of turrets:

    Very nice.

When I was looking at this shot
    [image=http://www.whisperingstatues.com/alf/version4_31.jpg]
I though it was a side on shot at first and you'd done something different with the engines, which would also looked good that way :).

Not sure about the size of the turrets on the big render to be honest. Just looks a bit too big to me.

I luv the turret design... very non-typical... most ppl do the obligatory Spaceship Yamato turrets but these are very original looking...

yeah.. i was thinking about the turrets.. i may shrink them a little .. and add a little detail around there since it seems kind of bare ;)

That's nice, excelent work, the glare of the light looks great, I'm eager to see what the texturing will look like.

simply amazing lots. I agree those turrets look kind of big, if you shrink them down a little add some detail it'll look amazing.

    I believe Lots uses Lightwave

    Yeah i use lightwave..

as for the turrets i think they're going to stay at how detailed they are (modelling wise) they're kinda small in comparison to the ship, and the ship is already exceeding 200 000 polys.. and my computer isnt liking that :)

Also i've got new shots of the smaller missle turrets.. you've got to have a way to defend against those pesky one man fighters :p

dont worry tho in a few months i may have something .. quite a bit larger in my hands :p both in cpu power and video card wise..

EDIT: btw, with the turrets the model is 600k polys :)

Hmmm, my computer stinks, the one I'm using has a 128 MB graphics card and 2 Ghz processor, but only has 256 MB of RAM so it screws up a lot. Then, the computer I own is a crappy emachines that can't even use a 3D graphics card(well, it's a 16 MB integrated card)

But, I must say that this one model I had in Max had 250,000 polys and didn't have trouble. I guess it's just the program difference.

well like i said, there wasnt much problem at 150000 polys but with the added 550000 polys from the turret .. and my older video card.. it doesnt go so well.. it is almost 2-3 years old ;)
