    Thank you Michael!

I did the pouches and baked the belt buckle. Don't look too closely at the belt buckle though since it's not painted and from a greater distance it should look better! ;)

    Hey Marianne,

    nice progress so far !

I wouldn´t worry too much about the belt buckle. If you have the feeling that it looks a bit less slim than the original, you can always give it a multitoned finish. I´d paint it with a black basecoat, and then drybrush it with a silver, leaving some areas darker than others. the background, i.e. the vest and the belt is dark, so viewers will first see the highlighted areas of the belt buckle. You can then finish it up with a gold coating on top of that.

Darn, I get constantly reminded that I still have a lot of work to do to improve my captain typho :\

I managed to finish my costume for CIV by not sleeping the night before my flight and also working on it in LA! There are some things I will have to change, but in general, I'm happy with the way it turned out.

And I only found one other person who did the costume at CIV:

I think a lot of people didn't recognise the costume though and I had to tell them who I was dressed as.

Looks good, Marianne! I'm glad you were able to finish it in time to wear around the con. :)

Hey Marianne, looking really good ! Oh, sweet sleep deprivation :lol To date I endured that in all my costume projects, so I think that is part of the deal ;) .

Totally not understandable. EIther those folks didn´t see the prequels at all, or they only saw it once in a movie theatre and belong to that group of dopes that come into the show way after the lights go down :\

I once had a guy ask me if I was from "Buck Rogers", while standing in line for a costume pageant :rolleyes

Anyway, I am sure the folks that count did recognize your costume and appreciated your work.

Comfortable but hot! Vinyl and Kodel doesn't breathe very well!

I guess I was lucky that the weather was so cool. I would have died if it had been in the eighties + ! I was just fine walking outside at night though while my friends were freezing in their t-shirts ;)

Trying to prepare this costume for 2008 Dragon Con's convention... Since this will be my first time, the costume will not be 100% authentic looking till the next year... We might also try to complete this outfit for my husband.

Here are some items I found - please let me know what you think in their raw state or with some modification...

Might use this and try to improvise it to make it look more like the real one:
