    Hello FanForce Members,

I am pleased to invite you and your group to attend the nation's oldest Sci-Fi convention, PhilCon, this coming December. Originally a literature-based sci-fi convention, they are expanding their scope and have graciously invited FanForce chapters, RL and 501 garrisons to participate. They would love to have as many costumed people as possible, but it certainly is not a requirement. Those of you without costumes, please come and enjoy the convention. Philly Outer Rim will act as your hosts for the weekend.

PhilCon 2003 will be held Friday, December 12-Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Philadelphia Center City Marriott. In addition, we have secured a discounted group admission rate AND a discounted hotel rate IF you sign up through us. No comped tickets will be issued since this is a fan organization-run con. They do not even pay their Celebrity Guests and also have been generous enough to give us a table for free.

To register, you must do the following:
Go to PhilCon and print out a registration form. Fill out the form and either indicate a credit card or attach a check made out to the convention. PM Calixte or email me for my mailing address to send the form. Deadline for receiving registrations through Philly Outer Rim is October 15, 2003. No emailed registrations will be accepted.

The registrations will be sent in one envelope with a cover letter about FanForce in order to secure the discounted rate. We are getting the group rate - $40 Adults, $20 Children (under 7 are free) for a WEEKEND pass. If we get 25 people in 'our group' to go we will get ribbons to wear on our badges and they will print them up for us according to our specifications. If you wait to purchase a single day pass you will pay approx. $35 and not get a ribbon to wear on your badge. The ribbons will say "FanForce" and "www.fanforce.net" so we can present a unified group even though we are from different chapters.

Room rates are an astoundingly low $81/night for a double and $101/night for a quad. Please call the 1-800 Reservation line for the hotel and say you are with Philcon to get the rate.

Things to do at the con will include:
    * Costume Panels - Coordinated by Philly Outer Rim in cooperation with the convention chairman.

**Costume Masquerade (Costume Guild sanctioned) - with special guest emcee!

*** Two Philly Outer Rim Charity Events both advertised by PhilCon for us on their website.

****A Post-Masquerade Party. This will be by inv
