Not sure how to start this so I shall just fire away.
    ############################################
DISCLAIMER: Everything I am about to write is my own opinion. Under no circumstances have I held a discussion with anyone to decide the content of this thread.
    ############################################

I have received various PM's from members in regard to my opinion on other members, on why I left, what I think of the OR etc etc.

Rather than repeat the information or have it misunderstood I have decided to answer everyone in an open forum(not the way this should be done-but it leaves no room for mistakes).

I decided to leave the OR, it was not caused by the action of any individual or the club itself. I just decided to leave, there was no conspiracy going on--just people reading way to much into things that are NOT there.

I left because I found the OR becoming boring more conversations were taking place over ICQ and PM then people posting on this board.

I had the option of attending meets and believe me both Grizzly and Pinback did everything possible to try to get me to one. However watching Fan-films, playing network games etc does not interest me.

Anyone who has read the "Box" thread should understand that I do not hold the same passion for the "Club" you are trying to start. I joined the OR to post in a West Australian forum nothing more, that however does not mean that I don't wish you the best in getting the club of the ground.

The biggest concern that I had is that you guys are talking of conquering the galaxy(thinking in huge terms)when as of yet you don't own a planet.(yes I know you have to start first) Information may be decided upon at a meet, but it was never related onto the board for us non-meeting(I'm not the only one who lurks here) people to see.
You are trying to get people to join/become interested, but are wasting the best area for people to see what you are like.

From the PM's I received it is obvious that alot of talking has been going on in private chats, I DO NOT wish to be involved in the politics of the OR-I have no comment on people from the board or the positions they hold, with the exception of clearing up the rumour in regard to Grizzly:

I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM. My opinion has remained the same since the first day I posted and he said Hi. He is a nice bloke with a heart of gold!!!!!!!It was my mistake with the edit button-I did not want to be put into a position of answering questions(as it turns out I'm doing it anyway).

I hope that by seeing this everyone will stop reading into things and making mountains from mole-hills. I have no hard feelings towards the OR-in fact I wanted to avoid this very thing so much, that I try not to post in the FF area at all.

Geez that's it, everyone now knows the basic story(alot of bull**** over nothing isn't it)-I have nothing more to say, sorry for the long post.

We have never met, nor do i think we ever shall by the sounds of things, but I just wanted you to know that it saddens me, as a potential member to see this kind of thing ahppen. I agree that everything that needs to be discussed should be put up on the board, and as I said, being new to this kind of thing it would most certainly help me get a feel of the club and the way it operates. With that said, I hope you reconsider, and I hope that you can find some kind of happiness withing the club.

    Regards,

    Ethane

It saddens me to receive PM's after I left weeks ago. Happiness is not the issue, for some reason people just can't accept the fact that I left with no hard feelings towards anyone.
I've been condemned because I walked away instead of being a part of the very thing that is now happening in other areas on the board.

Well I never read your messages about the stuff going on (they were too long basically) :) but I would like to find out if you were to join "A" club then what would you expect to happen and what do you expect to do?

If not however, then posting on the WA board doesn't mean you have to be part of the club. If the only topics coming up are about the club, then by all means start something yourself, I'll certainly reply. Well so longs it's not too long and to the point :)

Thats it from me..... for now!

I don't mind whether you're going to join our club or not. As far as I'm concerned, you're still welcome here and always have been. I don't want anyone feeling obliged to join the club just because they want to socialise with other fans in WA.
Don't feel bad about posting your reasons in here. I think that open discussion is great and I'd prefer hearing from you rather than hearing rumours. I understand what you're saying about the private chats and lack of posts. You can look in another thread for my opinion on that.
As far as the club organisation goes, I realise that some of the plans may seem a little lofty for now, but the next meet will be the last time we'll be meeting as an unofficial club. The week after that, it's all go, and the focus of the meet will be on what we're going to do about it. You're still welcome at any meets even if you do't indend to become a member yourself. I'm sure you'd have just as much to contribute as any other person, and if you do contribute some good ideas and have a hand in things, then you may feel more inclined to join. I hope so.
Above all, I'd like this forum to maintain a friendly atmosphere regardless of who's joining Outer Rim and who's not.

Nice to see a level-headed discussion on here. Thanks Spider, I too was getting quite annoyed with the forum taking a backseat to icq messages. That might just be because no-one was talking to me.

I came on the forum to chat with other Star Wars fans, then we had friendly meets so we could all meet each other. Finally, we decided to start a club, so we could meet more people and organize some exciting Star Wars events.

I hope to have friends in all 3 areas. Where they fit in the scheme of things is entirely up to them. I don't want people to stop posting on the forum, just because they don't want to spend every waking hour organizing a Star Wars convention. Nobody can decide the level of involvement for another person.

If anyone wants to join the club, send me an email. That's what a Secretary is for. Otherwise I'll just talk to you all on here. The forum isn't the club. It's just a place to meet and chat.

As the only one here who as actually met Spider, I took her comments at face value as they should have been. Cath I think everyone else has made it clear you're still welcome to post here in whichever threads you please. And btw... I still owe you a beer as well :)

On a serious note, if everyone stops the food fight for just a moment, I happen to agree with Spider here. Less chatter about c___, and more chatter about why we're on this forum - SW! Whenever I've been to a meet, the discussion has always been about sci-fi. I hate sci-fi, and I only like SW.

OK, back to the food fight. Nat throws ice-cream at everyone!
