    Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk release/newsletter

    February 2006

    FEBRUARY NEWS

The Boardwalk is gearing up for Spring with longer hours, full ride operation, "2 for 1" Weekends and the 24th annual Clam Chowder Cook Off and Festival.

It?s exciting to watch the park prepare for the new 2006 season. Artists are touching up the paint on the Carousel horses, beach driftwood is being cleaned up from winter storms, and construction is proceeding underneath the Boardwalk for the new WipeOut ride!

This Spring, WipeOut will open in the Cave Train area, in a "seaside cavern" tucked underneath the Boardwalk. Inspired by local surf culture, the ride delivers the thrills of a board-crunching day at Steamer?s Lane. When the ride starts, the lights go out, the music heats up and riders spin through space to the beat of high-energy surf music and a state-of-the-art light show. Get ready for some serious fun!

    Here's the February scoop?

Hey yeah, this weekend is a three day weekend, let's go to the beach...

    NOT!

They expect us to get SNOW in the hills.

It was frosty this morning in the valley even at 9am, means the conditions are right, and when we get snow it's usually late February or early March, so the time is about right too.

If it rains, and they say it should, I suspect they might close off Highway 9 over the summitt. Been COLD at the house, can't tell for sure, but we might even get a dusting at home.

It will make for some nice pictures, but driving is probably going to be a bit risky, so you might hold off a bit until it warms up a 'tad'.

Mrs. Sid and I will chat over it though, and let you know what our schedule is. However, for the close locals we might be able to wrangle up dinner at Royal Taj sooner than later.

After the Olympics, though. GO Apollo!!!

Bah. Feb and the beginning of March are bad for me due to theater. But after this show ends I am taking a break from the stage and would love to go hang out in SC with you guys!

Same as Hawkie..well except for the theater part...but Feb and Beginning March are already spoken for. However, how about thinking seriously about something Mid-March -> on....

(I need my Giant Dipper Fix.. Besides...Kai and AnashianSkywalker need to break our last record...well, we didn;t throw up anyways! [face_sick] [face_laugh] )

That time period sounds reasonable to me. I'm pretty booked through Feb and part of March, myself. But yes! Must do more Giant Dipper!!!!

I would love to go for another Boardwalk meeting, but I have to agree with the waiting till it's not bloody freezing idea. I mean, we do want to make a new Giant Dipper record... but it'll be harder if the air is freezing cold.

I and Mrs. Bith are always up for Santa Cruz. We actually were in San Jose last week and jammed on over for dinner at Vasilis.

    *looks slightly guilty*

Actually we go to the Royal Taj at least once a month.

Hey, it's our special place and makes for a nice romantic evening for two.

Besides, if I get seen consorting with Rebels and Jedi all the time, my reputation as a chief evil doer and bad guy will suffer, and then I'll have no choice but to dress up as Koza ALL the time.

And you don't want THAT now, do you?

    No! Not KOZA.....NOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

    [face_laugh]

Seriously, we do need to have a get together... Except right now, I'm sitting here freezing my Jedi parts off! (No wonder Kenobi decided to spend the next 20 years on Tat..at least it's WARM there!)

There will definitely be a SCFF Meeting at BayCon...and we need to work one in before that.

    So, Mid-Late April? Early May?

Let's start throwing some dates around (I know just set myself up for another one of Sid's comments!) ;)

I was cracking up watching the ads for the Boardwalk showing bikini clad teens strolling the beach, "We're open this weekend!" just after the weather report showing possible snow at sea level.

They may be open, but I'd leave the swim suit at home and dress for Tahoe, heh.

Tentatively, the SFFF is planning a trip to Great America with the SVRF on April 22 (you guys are welcome as well!). Other activities mentioned with other FF's were Marine World, a Giants game, and a picnic. Still, things are up in the air at this point. We still have to get through March!

    Matt,

I haven't been to Great America since the first year it opened! AND I've been wanting to go baaaack However, unless things change, I'm committed to a costuming event down South. But, maybe something else will happen! Plus the boardwalk. Plus BAYCON!!! Thanks for thinking of us. [:D]

Oh, crud! Sounds like fun! Sadly, I am not in town that weekend. On the bright side, I'm working with a friend on my Revan costume for Baycon...

Think fondly of me while riding rollercoasters!

How about a thread stating which weekends will work for us?

Or just make it the BayCon meeting and then decide on the next one there.

Don't know what if anything we can do the next two months, kind of in a holding pattern with things going on. We're just planning on Baycon at this point.

BTW, me and the Mrs. will probably do Royal Taj tonight for dinner, Kenobi.

And I KNOW how much that annoys you that you can't join us.

    PPPPPHHHHTTTT!!!!

    BWAHAHAHHAHAAHA!

'Course the force was NOT with me, highway 9 was closed due to mudslides, had to take 17 roundabout Scotts Valley and then make the loop for home. Got in at 8PM, so we just did our shopping and hit McD's.

    >.<

Must have been some kind of Jedi dirty trick.

    That's okay, I'll fix THEM.

Looks like we've got 10 more days of it at least here in the Central Valley. I'm going to be floating to work in a rowboat soon.
