Amph SFF Writer's Guild Writing Contest: February 2006

Bad luck to come upon this challenge only now
Oh well, next time I guess.
And nobody can keep me from hatching this strory anyways...

 

I'll be sending in my story tonight, most likely at 11:58, but still on time!

 

Aaaaaaaannnddd...it's in!

 

How many have sent in now? With leaving for a trip tomorrow and an English essay I've been busy, if we are severely lacking I'll put something in but if we have enough I'd rather not put in an inferior work...

I sent one. I appreciate the extension which made it possible for me to enter. I had thought I would have to wait thanks to having agreed to host fanfic awards for the Beyond the Saga board before this came to my attention. And that was too big a job to spend even two hours on something else it turned out.

This was great fun and a good challenge for me at any rate so thanks very much for doing it. And I shall endeavor to produce something sooner next time.

Well, now, what to make of that?

 

I think a lot of us are extremely grateful for the grace period . . .

Of course, KD, you have a clear conscience in this respect. Doing the Awards and then this is a heck of a lot of work. It's great to see other fanficcers popping up in SFFBC

 

As well as the original entrants, the grace period allowed 5 additional entries to make it into the contest. I'm very pleased with this turnout.

Though I think the most obvious fact is: you really only need one week to write an entry.

I'll be formatting them for Writing.Com and contacting the judges within the next day or two.

Entrants, please PM ME with whether or not it is okay with you for me to make the Writing.Com account available to everyone (with login to the site required) during the judging period. If everyone says it's okay, I'll do that so everyone with a Writing.com account can read along.

I'd have been disappointed if you hadn't.

 

Isn't it kind of sadistic to be showing photos of cookies that we can't eat? I mean, isn't that analogous to an interrogator dangling pictures of a sunny resort in front of an inmate or something?

Then again, most of us male ogle endlessly over photos of women we can't even come CLOSE to having (whereas with cookies we can always run up to a market), so maybe it's not so bad.

Christ, I saw that glass of milk and I thought, "Now that's a clever response. What can I do to add to the communal humor?" And this lame post is all I offered up. Ach, on to the next!
