As long as Crystal is decent or good, Pitt wins for Moneyball & Midnight in Paris doesn't win a single award, I'll be happy.

I enjoyed Midnight in Paris, although I sort of doubt it's going to win anything.

And I don't think Brad Pitt can win, sadly. Dujardin's got that one in a lock.

I watched 50/50 a couple days ago, and I don't quite understand why it didn't get a Best Picture nod. Too much pot smoking? Script was more detailed than "Random dinosaur scene! Show the sun in every third shot! Brad Pitt or kid Sean Penn says something that sounds deep but actually makes very little sense!"?

It was a far more serious film than I expected, especially given the trailers that portrayed it as yet another "Seth Rogan plays himself" thing.

yeah, i agree. 50/50 was excellent. jerked a bunch of my tears.

edit: weird thing was seth rogen literally was playing himself.

it was more serious than i thought it would be too, but there was more than enough seth being seth to satisfy the seth being seth enthusiasts. i'm just trying to look at it from the academy's point of view here, an admittedly futile gesture since nothing they do makes any sense.

I'm still amazed/annoyed that War Horse got a Best Picture nod.

Perhaps it was picked in a failed attempt to appeal to the Brony demographic.:p

Yes. Looks like sentimental drivel, not Best Picture worthy material. However, part of the fun for me (and mom & aunt, with whom I watch The Oscars with) is to debate/talk crap about the reasons why we didn't many of the movies that are nominated. :p

yeah, but that's even more fun if you've seen the films and can properly judge them. but wait you're missing a word there. are you saying you talk crap about the reasons you didn't see many of the films that were nominated? because that sounds kinda lame.

There are many reasons as to why I watch the Oscar telecast..........one of those reasons is that it's something that me, mom and one of my aunt's have in common. We like to make ridiculous jokes/snide comments about many films that are nominated because that's part of the fun for us. And, we call out each other if either of us finds issue with the reasons why we didn't see a particular film (as my aunt did to me the year in which Slumdog Millionare was nomminated). :p I know it's silly, but I still enjoy Oscar night with them.

Do they really think anyone cares about this behind the scenes stuff? I usually like behind the scenes stuff and I don't care about this behind the scenes stuff.

Billy Crystal! It feels like 1993 again-- warm and safe and sitcoms all had laugh tracks.
