FF:SA [Social Event] SAFF's STAR WARS Marathon & Barbeque

I've been suggesting this for months, and I'm going to just go with it.
I'd like to organize that we have a Star Wars Movie/FanFilm marathon day & a Barbeque.
Reason? What better reason that the company of fellow Star Wars Fans coming together for what brings us together.

After some talks with current CR, Master Skywalker - The venue in mind will cost $60 to hire.
That venue, is the area we hired for SAFF Open Day 08.
Now, not sure how thats going to be paid etc - but we could do a $2 a head entry fee thing to cover the cost. <- WIP

I'd like to suggest a "Bring a piece to the table" barbeque, where someone or family bring something to be thrown on the barbi.
EG. (And not saying its final. just examples)

Cho's Family brings Steak pack
Adalia's Family Brings a couple of bottles of coke
I bring a large pack of sassages
Someone brings bread
Somone brings the barbeque
Someone brings cooking skills
Someone brings small drinks?
and the list goes on.

Now, this is in development - so I am open to all ideas.

30th November is out - that is the day of the kids Xmas party at PGCC (where DLA works).

Looks like January it is!!

 

Unless I'm very much mistaken:

January 5th, 2009 is a Monday so perhaps Saturday, January 3rd?

January 15th, 2009 is a Thursday so Saturday, January 17th?

 

Alright, seems theres alot of numbers floating around.
I'll need two things. 1. A list of dates from everyone of which would be good for everyone in January.
2. From MS, if theres any grace period in which we have to prebook the venue.

 

not really a grace period but I'll give them a call tomorrow & see what dates they have free, the date we want might not even be free.

 

Also consider Janurary temperature.... quite warm. Was that room air conditioned?

Wait wait, are we talking a proper SW Marathon, or just fanfilms and all that?

 

I'd like to go for actual star wars marathon - MS suggested fanfilms as its a possibility we've seen them too many times.

NEVER! You can never have enuf star wars. LOL

 

Personally I havent sat down and watched SW in a rather long time. Too long in fact. I do know where MS is coming from though as I'm sure every one of us bar leektar could quote the movies almost word for word

I havent attempted to watch all 6 since just after ROTS made it onto dvd, and I unfortunately failed. Stupid AOTC 'love' scenes

 

I always try, and fail.
I either usually fall asleep (Night time), run off to do something else, or run out of munchies.

 

She has absolutely no interest in watching any of the movies ....

 

I don't mind if people want to watch all 6 back to back, I wouldn't mind doing it, I haven't done it before I just thought people probably wouldn't want to...I don't mind either way.

 

I'll come along for the "social" side of things and have lunch, and then head down to the Mall for "Retail Therapy" .....

I'll even ring you guys if I find any new SW toys at TRU, DJ's, etc .....

 

Alright, settled then. SW Movies Back to Back - date yet to be determined.

 

BTW - my earlier post re: she has no interest... etc... was actually Leektar not checking whom was logged in.

just keep one thing in mind mate..

6 movies @ 2 hrs each = 12 hrs

..and that is just the movies.. then take into consideration the BBQ ... are we starting this at 9AM??????

 

Ah yes. Valid point. We COULD seperate this as two events. Original trilogy, and prequal.. however we'd be doing double things like bbq and fee's for rental...

 

My interest lies more in watching newer SW fanfilms that are out there. I'd need a really comfy chair to sit there and watch the sets of movies in a row

 

We could always take a vote on Original or Prequel trilogy and split it into two events, have one earlier in the year and one later.

 

Or we watch a bunch of fanfilms, maybe some of the episodes from the new clone wars series, and finish off with ESB

Yeah.. trouble with that is that the episodes (To my knowledge) are not aired here yet.
